Jack Kohnen Jack Kohnen 6'6" | SF Slinger | 2027 State #43 Nation WI was dominant against a much smaller Waupun squad in the Beaver Dam Fieldhouse on Saturday. The long, physical wing prospect did his best Giannis impression scoring several times with ease at the rim downhill and off of post touches. Kohnen had nine made baskets within three feet of the basket and was unstoppable when getting to this spot. Jack finished the game 24 points despite not playing the last seven minutes of the matchup. Kohnen continues to hear from power five programs across the country due to his size, athleticism, and ability to score the basketball at all three levels. Kohnen and the Owls still need to beat West Bend East and Grafton to secure a North Shore conference championship after dropping a nail biter to Nicolet last Thursday. Slinger will get one final challenge against the Trojans of Tosa West next week, as a final tune-up for a probable prolonged playoff run in Division 2.

I wrote about Jack’s brother Joey in Part 1 and believe it or not, Jack was even more impressive in their matchup against Freedom and Donovan Davis Donovan Davis 6'8" | PF Freedom | 2027 State #25 Nation WI . Slinger overall used their team defense to slow down Freedom’s high powered offense that includes Davis, but Jack was sensational with lockdown defense guarding the #1 ranked prospect most of the night. In addition to his stellar defensive performance, Jack showcased his ability to score at any level, at any time, knocking down 2 threes, converting on hook shots, and getting to the rim at will. Iowa, Wisconsin, and Marquette, all schools that have offered Kohnen a scholarship, were in the house to witness his 24 point 12 rebound performance. Without a doubt, Kohnen will continue to rack up the power five offers as Team Herro competes on the prestigious EYBL circuit.

Jack is 6-foot-6 but he often plays much taller. He is quick off his feet and extremely long so he can block/alter shots and he did just that to a high level against Benilde-St. Margaret’s. Kohnen scored 22 points and got to the foul line a bunch of times in the contest, but he also used his height to pass over the defense to open teammates. One of the better prospects in the Midwest in the class of 2027, Kohnen’s versatility, basketball IQ and overall skill are attractive to high-level collegiate prospects.

Grafton simply had no answer for Jack on Thursday night. He sat out a good chunk of the first half, and played less than three minutes in the second, but still managed to put up 24 points in impressive fashion. For the first bucket of the game Jack slashed to the rim for an alley-oop dunk, and that set the tempo for the game. Throughout the night Jack could be seen draining threes, throwing down two more dunks, and showcasing his impressive vision out of the block. One of the most versatile players in Wisconsin.
