Dooney Johnson was scoring from all 3 levels for Team Herro in their win over City Rocks. He already has a fairly filled out frame, which allows to absorb contact as he drives downhill. One of his top highlights was when he attacked hard with his left, knocking his matchup backwards before dropping it in. He also drained shots from downtown and got to the charity stripe for and 1 opportunities a few times. On the defensive end, Johnson uses his size and speed to keep his matchup from getting to their spots. While also pushing the pace after turnovers. All in all, it was a great outing from him and he finished with 21 points.

Johnson always seems to be a guy who impacts winning with his statistical contributions across the board. The Gonzaga-bound guard led Team Herro to a 4-0 weekend averaging 16.5 points while adding games with nine rebounds, seven assists and three steals which highlights his all-around floor game. Johnson plays on the ball for Herro and was a low turnover guy despite his high usage and amount of time responsible for creating offense for himself and teammates.

A lead guard with size, length, skill and vision, Johnson can score at all three levels and is aggressive in taking opportunities to put points on the board. He also can set up teammates with his ability to draw double teams and then pass the ball to open teammates. A key player for the Team Herro 17U squad looking to make another big splash at the Peach Jam Tournament in July, Johnson is ranked No. 18 nationally in the On3/Rivals player rankings for the 2027 class.

Dooney Johnson is a smooth operator on offense. He has an explosive first and second step, and can load up his hips when he needs to elevate. He slams home dunks with authority and isn’t afraid to add some flair to them. Johnson also poured in shots from downtown and certainly looks like a player who will make noise at the collegiate level. His outstanding play earned him a spot in the Top 30 Game, and he was also named a co-MVP of the Team Championship game.

We already talked about Blake Risler Blake Risler 6'3" | SG Regis | 2026 State WI ‘s 27 points per game for Regis, and Dooney is putting up nearly identical numbers for Juneau. Fans from all over the state will be excited to watch the high flying Gonzaga commit, capable of throwing down highlight reel dunks any time he attacks the basket. When Dooney isn’t trying to dunk on defenders, he’s a reliable outside shooter with a high arcing shot from deep. I’ve seen him have some quiet first halves in games this season, but Dooney always seems to take his game to another level during the last 18 minutes of play.
