MOST INTRIGUING SECTIONAL

When looking at all the sectionals in Class 3A South, the sectional that really pops out is Sectional 30 at Charlestown. Silver Creek comes into the season as the favorite to cut down the nets returning their top five scorers that includes Division I commits in 6'9” Senior Richmond Commit [player_tooltip player_id='2476482' first='Dane' last='Caldwell'] and 6'3” Senior Stony Brook Commit [player_tooltip player_id='1385611' first='Kasen' last='Daeger']. Those two along with second leading scorer in 6'0” Senior Guard [player_tooltip player_id='1561483' first='Dane' last='Sprigler'] and 6'4” Junior Guard [player_tooltip player_id='2140328' first='Brandon' last='Hunter'], who holds a handful of Division I offers, gives the Dragons a lineup full of firepower that can makes them one of the best teams in the state regardless of class.

Ready to make their mark is a talented senior class at Charlestown led by 6'4” Senior Miami (OH) Commit [player_tooltip player_id='1922051' first='Anthony' last='Fresh'] and 6'2” Senior Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods Commit [player_tooltip player_id='1560994' first='Parker' last='Odle']. The Pirates duo combined for over 30 points per game while Odle shot an astounding 42% from distance while Fresh followed him at 39%.

You can't talk about the postseason without mentioning Coach Dave Benter and his Brownstown Central Braves. A 2A State Championship in 2024 moved the Braves up to 3A last season where they didn't slow down finishing 24-3 and winning their fourth consecutive sectional championship. The Braves need to find a way to replace their top two scorers from a year ago in Chace Coomer (Southwest Baptist) and Colby Hall (Spring Arbor) who combined for just under 33 points per game en route to a 3A Regional Championship. Returning is 6'5” Senior Wing [player_tooltip player_id='2813503' first='Lane' last='Pendleton'] coming off a fantastic junior season where he averaged 14.7 points while shooting 57% from the field and 48% from three. His production will climb as Brownstown Central looks to keep their winning ways under Coach Benter.

STATE TITLE CONTENDERS

Silver Creek: The Dragons won 22 games last season and bring back their main core. They will be the longest and most athletic team in the state that will create matchup problems at every position

Cathedral: The Irish are another versatile team with size, length, and skill all over the floor that will be able to play any style of game. A good blend of veteran pieces to go with talented underclassmen that give the Irish a chance to get back to Gainbridge.

Princeton: Indiana Junior All-Star [player_tooltip player_id='1560964' first='Edwin' last='Holmes'] and point guard DeMarcus Newson return from the Tigers 24-3 Regional Championship team. With the addition of transfers in 6'6” Senior Forward [player_tooltip player_id='2892468' first='Drew' last='Wilkas'] and 6'2” Sophomore Guard [player_tooltip player_id='2539928' first='Quintyn' last='Voltz'], the Tigers could potentially be more potent offensively than a year ago with the ability to put out a versatile five-man lineup that can score in a variety of different ways.

Evansville Bosse: Of the state title contenders in 3A South, the Evansville Bosse Bulldogs will have the biggest turnaround in win total. Returning is the Bulldogs leading scorer in 6'3” Senior Guard [player_tooltip player_id='2172596' first='Marrius' last='Harris'] who averaged 18.7 points per game. The Bulldogs received a big boost in 6'6” Senior Wing Transfer [player_tooltip player_id='1760994' first='Dorion' last='Bowen'] moving in from Memphis Whitehaven. Along with a junior backcourt of [player_tooltip player_id='2489643' first='Elijah' last='Eastwood'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2408663' first='Elijah' last='Chinn'], the Bulldogs are arguably the best team in Southwest Indiana looking to get back to Gainbridge Fieldhouse for the first time since 2018.

DARK HORSE CONTENDERS

Charlestown: With the talented duo of Miami of Ohio Commit [player_tooltip player_id='1922051' first='Anthony' last='Fresh'] and Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods commit [player_tooltip player_id='1560994' first='Parker' last='Odle'], the Pirates have the talent to upset anybody. Along with Fresh and Odle, [player_tooltip player_id='2815063' first='Keevin' last='Bowman'] and AJ Todd return to form one of the best backcourts in all of 3A

Gibson Southern: If there is anything that Coach Mark Rohrer does, it's win in March. He has arguably his most talented team led by the three-headed monster of 5'11” Senior Point Guard [player_tooltip player_id='2978386' first='Cam' last='Truxal'], sharpshooting 6'6” Junior Wing [player_tooltip player_id='2140411' first='Kolton' last='Schmitt'], and 6'2 Junior Guard [player_tooltip player_id='2891750' first='Reece' last='Runyan']. With other veteran pieces to surround their trio, they are more than capable of making a deep run.

Crispus Attucks: Another coach that you can't count out in March is Chris Hawkins. The 3A State Runner-Ups lost 10 players off last years 23-7 squad but reloads with a loaded junior class, especially in the backcourt with [player_tooltip player_id='2622052' first='AJ' last='Jones'], Bless'ed Thomas, [player_tooltip player_id='2470631' first='Octavius' last='Comer'], and Corde' Hill. The Tigers also get a talent boost in 6'3” Senior Transfer Guard [player_tooltip player_id='1560945' first='DeZhon' last='Hall'], an Indianapolis native that went the prep school route, returning to the city. He's a confident left handed combo guard that will bring a scoring prowess to an already loaded backcourt.

Guerin Catholic: A loaded junior class for first year Head Coach Sam Gardner have the Eagles in prime position to be a year early for a deep run. Three-year starting backcourt duo in [player_tooltip player_id='2140383' first='Jake' last='Grissom'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2140371' first='Hayden' last='Rogers'] leading the charge with high potential 6'7” Wing [player_tooltip player_id='2137375' first='Carter' last='Murans'] prime to have a breakout season.
