The MVP of the LG Hoops Summer All-Star Classic just so happened to come on my team and that player was Reece Runyan Reece Runyan 6'2" | PG/SG Gibson Southern | 2027 State IN out of Gibson Southern HS. Runyan was by far one of the best true scorers on the floor in this game with his smooth jumper and crafty finishes around the rim. Did a great job of playing within himself throughout the game which is what allowed him to have a 15 point, 10 rebound double-double on his way to winning MVP of the game.

High IQ combo guard that’s stepping into the lead guard spot next season and is quickly getting comfortable there this spring and summer. One of the best catch shoot threats in the area. Once he gets hot, he’s one of the tougher offensive talents in the area to stop.

Gibson Southern played a great game against Hamilton Southeastern on Saturday night. Runyan was incredibly impressive showing off his three-level scoring ability. He made a nice three-point shot off of a flare, made turnaround jump shots in the mid-post, and used his positional size and length to finish up at the rim. The offensive skill level paired with his size on the perimeter is a good combination to have.

Senior guard that has had an exceptional spring with his Progeny team is looking to step into a new role for the Titans with the graduation of their point guard. The 6’2” Runyan is a talented guard that can do a little bit of everything on the offensive end. Excellent stationary shooter and has well as off the move. Has developed a middle game off the dribble where he can stop on a dime and rise up. Willing passer with improving playmaking for others.

Runyan had an excellent weekend shooting the basketball which is exactly what he is known for coming out of Gibson Southern High School. The 6’2″ guard made half of his three-point shots (nearly five attempts per game) and averaged 12 points per game while helping lead Progeny UA Rise 17u to a perfect 5-0 weekend. He is an under-the-radar prospect that small college programs should be watching heading into the summer.

Runyan was just named to All Southwest Indiana Team for his outstanding high school season. He’s a combo guard that can flat out shoot it off the catch while being a playmaker on the ball that can get in the lane and create plays for himself and for others. He’s a high energy, high IQ guard that makes winning plays.

We had boots on the ground to see Runyan score 20 points and connect on three fourth quarter three-point shots, including a deep one to tie the game Thursday. However, Gibson Southern lost that one at the buzzer 62-61 to Hamilton Heights. The Titans bounced back though on Saturday and defeated Evansville Memorial 71-56 with Runyan scoring a game-high 23 points.
