is a physical worker in the paint for
Gain Elite
, and he was up to the challenge against Comets Elite on Saturday night. He was putting in the extra effort that led to winning plays for his team, battling on the glass for putback buckets, and hustling to get into positions to contest around the rim. He strung together a nice run of play over a few minutes where he had two offensive boards leading to easy finishes inside, followed up by a big rejection on the defensive end. Has some nice physical tools to work with as he continues to gain experience competing with/against some of Minnesota’s best.

The DeLaSalle big man continues to show progress in a number of areas of his game. Physically, he looks a bit taller and leaner than he did during the high school season. Playing with Gain Elite 16u while also filling in a bit for the 17u team, Omar was working hard running the floor, and was able to beat opposing bigs rim-to-rim for some easy transition buckets. He has good touch around the basket, and rarely missed if he caught anywhere near the rim. Showed comfort stepping away from the basket and hitting an open jumper, but was at his best rolling to the rim and finishing on the move. Hard worker defensively who’s going to move his feet to defend screens, and does a nice job of walling up to protect the rim.

Omar was one of the prospects that impressed me the most on Sunday, as I was not familiar with his game headed into camp. He has a built 6’7” frame and was able to take on contact when finishing inside or when grabbing tough rebounds. Ali was a great finisher at the rim, finding success rolling to the basket or running the floor in transition. He converted on some second chance opportunities as well, following offensive boards. Omar Ali will be a 2027 prospect to watch out for from DeLaSalle.

Omar is a promising big to keep an eye on at DeLaSalle. Still a bit raw, but was very productive in the paint on both ends of the floor. Could catch with his back to the basket and use his strength to just finish through his defender. On the defensive end he was one of the best shot blockers at the event, moving his feet to get to the right spots to make plays. Does a nice job of not swatting to avoid picking up fouls, while still getting a piece of the ball. Hard worker who sprints rim-to-rim looking for transition opportunities.
