Mason was both a player that was tough to stop with the dribble separation and a guy that you had to get a hand to because the perimeter jumper was being made in quality percentages. Definitely a guard that we are going to look at for a big boost because Mason should have a strong winter season at the younger levels, and a guy to really keep an eye on at 15u next spring. Great impression made.

Mason dominated in the one 5v5 matchup I was able to catch, being very difficult to stop with the ball in his hands. He has solid size and length for a freshman guard, but his quick first step and shiftiness make him nearly impossible to stay in front of man-to-man. He was at his best when attacking the basket, being able to finish strong or draw a foul. Melzer is also a knockdown shooter on the perimeter, pulling up off the dribble in the mid-range or hitting on a catch-and-shoot look from deep.

One of the top shooters at the event, Melzer’s touch wasn’t just consistent, it had range and came with both feet set and on the move. Loved watching the timing of his scores and he is a part of and true up and coming Islander group.

Mason Melzer Mason Melzer 5'10" | CG MN had his way in 5-on-5 action on Sunday. His confidence makes him a lethal offensive weapon. He used his ball-handling ability to get anywhere he wanted on the court, finishing at the rim and knocking down mid-range jumpers at a high percentage. He showcased his range as well, catching and shooting from deep without hesitation. Melzer is a dynamic scoring guard who will look to showcase that ability down the road at DeLaSalle High School.

Mason Melzer Mason Melzer 5'10" | CG MN is a five-foot-eleven-inch DeLaSalle and Grassroots Sizzle -Melzer guard with ability to shoot off the dribble and plays longer than his height. Melzer can operate with the ball and without, moves the ball off the dribble as a creator, and can hit off the catch. Melzer will need to get stronger to compete at the higher levels.

Mason Melzer Mason Melzer 5'10" | CG MN – Melzer is a five-foot-eleven-inch 2030 guard playing Real Phenom this weekend and he’s from DeLaSalle. Melzer shows a feel for the game with the ball in his hands that just looks so natural and he passes the ball with a distinct flair. Melzer hit a couple 3-pointers and displayed his driving and finishing ability throughout against Showtime Elite.

Mason’s game is so smooth, as he is a true do-it-all point guard. He has a great handle and found working around defenders very easy. He plays with great pace and never looks sped up with the ball in his hands, getting inside whenever he wanted. He is a crafty finisher, mixing in layups with either hand, or inside and outside hand. He is also a knockdown shooter, as he hit on a deep three to force overtime in 5v5 play. Melzer has all the tools for a lead guard, but will even get scarier as he continues to grow.
