McNair, a guard out of the St. Andrew’s School in Rhode Island, is the #8 ranked combo guard in this update and checks in at #43 overall. At 6’4″, he’s a bigger guard that has proven to be a high level shooter from behind the arc. He’s comfortable getting into his jumper off one dribble or in catch and shoot situations, and even started to show some ability to operate as a secondary playmaker this winter. Defensively, he offers some versatility with his size and length and has the mobility needed to stay in front of guards and wings on the perimeter.

Elijah has incredible vision on the floor, making accurate in the box passes keeping guys in position to shoot right away. He knows where to find his teammates at all times, making a variety of passes, over the shoulder/off hand even with 1 hand. No weak dribbling from him, he pounds the rock showing off his strength, as he is put together for a 2027 player. He demonstrated his capability today to be an alpha in the scoring department if his team needs. Prediction is D3 offers now, high D2 potential with low/mid major D1 offers soon.

McNair absolutely shot the lights out against a tough Kimball Union Academy team at Babson. He has a good handle and control in terms of getting to his spots on the floor, and he has a nice looking shot that consistently falls. He can also find teammates while off of two feet in the paint, something that all guards need to be able to do. He generally has good size, strength and athleticism and I could see him playing scholarship basketball as a result. More on-ball reps this season with St. Andrews will be really big for his development, and I’m curious to see how he changes his body as well.

Chipping in alongside Hawkins to help close out a tight win over the 3SSB’s Washington Warriors, McNair was crucial with his potential scoring ability on the perimeter. Already among the most productive sophomores in the NEPSAC, McNair seems improved from the season, most notably looking to have stretched a bit further and converted some baby fat into muscle. A natural scorer, he shined while displaying a polished pullup repertoire, particularly in the midrange. It certainly wouldn’t be a surprise for a D1 offer to come McNair’s way sooner than later if he keeps up this level of play into the live periods.
