In the first game of the day, CATS Academy had their way in a 10 point victory over Utah Prep. Adamson finished tied with a game-high 19 points as he knocked down open shots, played on balance on drives and didn’t force the issue. A sturdy off guard, Adamson wasn’t pushed off his spots and was an impact defender at the point of attack. Strong team effort by CATS Academy in the NIKE Scholastic victory.

Adamson, a guard out of CATS Academy, continues to impress with the overall evolution of his offensive game. Once known mostly as a power guard, he has completely transformed his game in the last year and is now one of the most versatile, three-level scorers in the region. On Saturday, he did a great job of making shots from behind the arc early, which opened up his driving game later in the game. Defensively, he can guard any spot on the perimeter with his combination of athleticism, mobility, and strength.

Adamson has always been an elite athlete who wows with his explosiveness and strength. But on Saturday, he showcased his improved outside shot that’ll completely change how defenders guard him moving forward. His release looks more compact and has more arc than it used to, and the results are showing. He had a monster Saturday night game and looks to be someone CATS won’t be able to take off the court because of what he brings on both ends.

Adamson is one of the most athletic players on the entire CATS roster, and that’s saying a lot. The 6-foot-3 guard is ridiculously quick and explosive when attacking downhill, and he’s an above the rim finisher who can quite comfortably take contact in the air and still convert with both hands. His shot is also massively improved, and he’s continuing to develop his handle and feel in the pick and roll as a creator. He’ll have a meaningful role on CATS this season and should be getting tons of D1 interest, especially because he’s only a junior.

A 6’3″ combo guard for CATS Academy, Adamson walked away Sunday as one of the event’s biggest stock risers. Already a well known recruit amongst college coaches, he took his game to another level offensively while continuing to show the athleticism, grit, and toughness that has been his trademark. He’s still elite in transition and scores in a variety of ways around the rim, but, it was his ability to consistently knock down shots from behind the arc while also operating as an on-ball creator that really stood out at this event. As he rounds out his offensive game, his defensive game continues to shine as he has the ability to lock up opposing ball handlers in the full court and the half-court, leading to plenty of turnovers and opportunities for him to get out and score in transition. He always had the look of a scholarship level guard, but has now cemented himself as a high major recruit.

Adamson, a member of the 16U E16 squad, is a power wing out of CATS Academy in Massachusetts. Long known as an elite athlete that was at his best getting downhill and attacking the rim, he’s taken his game to another level this spring as a creator with the ball in his hands. He’s more comfortable than ever on the perimeter, making plays off the bounce and getting into the paint where he can finish or find teammates for easy baskets. He’s making tough contested shots in the mid-range and becoming more consistent as a shooter from behind the arc. He’s still tough in the open floor, capable of making loud plays at the rim as a finisher. On top of all that, he’s a terrific two-way rebounder from the guard position.

As productive a freshman as there was in New England last year while leading Catholic Memorial (MA) to the state semifinals, Adamson has taken a step back in his output behind a litter of highly-recruited upperclassmen at CATS. Nonetheless, he uses his minutes to showcase the aggressive two-way instincts and well-rounded skillset that have him on early high-major watch lists. A physical downhill wing guard, Adamson shows solid on-ball skill and pace while operating at multiple levels. He’s a tough-nosed defender with versatility across the perimeter, and an increasingly consistent perimeter shooter to boot. We’ll look to see him boost his production back to normal levels while playing with his age group in AAU, but there remains a lot to like as Adamson bides his time in pursuit of a national title.

Adamson has some pretty ridiculous athletic tools as a 6-foot-3 sophomore. He’s lightning quick, jumps out of the gym, and is quite strong for his size – I’ll be fascinated to see how his frame and athleticism continue to develop over the next couple years. Adamson is still working on a consistent outside shot, but his ball-handling and ability to get to the hoop are certainly already there, as is his on-ball defense. He’s an absolute blur in transition and plays with an aggression and toughness you just can’t teach.
