Bol’s ceiling is insane. The 7-foot center has put on weight and has ridiculous length, so he shows some flashes that are quite special. On multiple occasions during Saturday’s game, the Expressions junior took one dribble inside the arc and went up for head-at-the-rim dunks—his athleticism is big time. He also can make shots from the outside and has good rim protection instincts. Bol needs to improve his IQ and feel for the game on the offensive end, but he has some extremely intriguing tools and should be looked at by scholarship-level schools despite how raw he is.

Akot Bol, a defensive specialist out of the MacDuffie School in Massachusetts, that plays with a high motor and has the ability to change a game as a rim protector. He does a great job of contesting shots around the rim, walls up without fouling, and makes opposing guards reconsider dribble penetration. Offensively, he has the ability to stretch the floor as a shooter, showing good touch from behind the arc and at the foul line. He runs the floor in transition, keeps the ball high on the catch, and has the ability to finish above the rim as a lob threat. As he gets stronger, his ceiling will continue to rise.

Akot Bol, a big with impressive measurables out of the MacDuffie School, has taken his game to another level with Expressions Elite this spring. Few, if any, prospects in the class of 2027 have his combination of height and length, and when combined with his impressive agility, he becomes one of the more intriguing long term prospects in New England. He’s a strong presence around the rim defensively, blocking and altering a high number of shots. He needs to continue to get stronger, but shows a willingness to mix it up physically and can rebound in space and in traffic. Offensively, he’s a threat to score as a roller out of ball screens and on catches around the rim, showing a huge catch radius and improving hands.

Bol is one of the most intriguing long term basketball prospects I’ve seen in my couple years covering high school hoops. The 7-footer looks about 150 pounds soaking wet but glides up and down the floor like a gazelle and has some guard skills that are beyond impressive; he handles is so well for his size and has a super nice-looking shot. Defensively, he’s an excellent rim protector who really understands weak side rotations and timing for blocks. How much weight Bol puts on in the next couple years could determine the level of scholarship basketball that he plays, but I would be very focused on his development if I were a college or NBA scout.

Bol is a 7-footer in the class of 2027 who shows some workable-looking perimeter skills. Need I say more about his potential moving forward? Bol is clearly still developing physically, but even if he doesn’t put on weight, he’s still an incredibly intriguing prospect as a result of his height and skills. He’s a great rim protector with good instincts and timing, and he’s surprisingly switchable on that end as well. Offensively, Bol has shown a willingness and desire to play on the three-point line; it might not look polished right now, but it’s frightening what he could look like down the road. Keep an eye on Bol, because he could be talked about as a unicorn at the professional level one day. He should be hearing from every high-major D1 coach with a pulse.

You can’t help but turn your eyes to Bol when you walk in the gym. The 7-foot big man is incredibly long and has the look of a developing NBA player. Despite his size, he doesn’t spend too much time in the paint offensively and prefers to show off his shooting and handle, which are still improving. Defensively, he’s an excellent rim protector already and should only get better once he puts on some weight.
