About Shane
Expert Analysis
Tom Keller | Prep Hoops Scout
The Mason pledge was effective throughout and was one of the reasons why Hargrave was able to win. Shane thrives breaking the game down in the half-court and taking big strides to the cup. He scored the ball in a plethora of ways and finished with a team high 25 points and obtained a lot of points at the foul line. . Pendergrass is very effective seeking out contact while on the attack and touching the paint.

One of the more impressive wing shot makers in the 2026 class, Pendergrass has extended range well beyond the 3-point line and hit some tough shots throughout the day. Pendergrass did settle a couple times but it was usually after he had hit a couple shots on previous possessions. With a high release point and consistent form, Pendergrass has the ability to shoot over smaller defenders. After showcasing his elite shot-making ability, Pendergrass had some strong finishes in the paint. I think Pendergrass has the talent to hit the ground running at George Mason and play right away, a trend in the 2026 class with recruits committing to programs where they can find minutes as freshman.

19p vs Oklahoma Wolfpack
-He’s always had the outside shooting ability but he’s added more production in and around the paint to make himself a more well-rounded prospect. Pendergrass hit two 3s, scored on mid post faders with his back to the basket, and finished with double digit rebounds as he batted in putbacks with either hand around the basket through the 3 games I saw. Liked that he didn’t let his offensive outcomes affect his defensive effort as he recovered well to get back in the frame to block shots around the rim on several occasions throughout the two days. Although he’s lost the baby fat and gotten both faster/stronger, I want to see him improve his hip fluidity to allow him to slide better laterally to take advantage of good positional size.

30p 8r 2a 1b vs McNamara
-Thought Pendergrass bounced back well from a hand injury to turn in a productive offensive performance in a matchup with one of the DMV’s most talented groups in McNamara. Pendergrass hit shots off of movement, put his defender on his back before hitting turnarounds at the elbows, and really hit the glass heavy to clean up misses around the basket for a few easy buckets. The timing and rebounding instincts are encouraging for his floor as an offensive prospect on nights when the shot isn’t falling at a high clip.

was tremendous for Hargrave against Bishop McNamara. Shane is a versatile player and he showed that with how he scored the ball. Shane does a good job catching the ball at the nail or anywhere in the mid-range and getting either to the rim or to his spot to knock down a shot. He is a good catch-and-shoot guy from three, and he had a handful of tough buckets. Shane had 30 points and 8 rebounds in a competitive loss to McNamara.

Shane Pendergrass undoubtedly boosted his stock at the Pangos All-American Camp . He was scoring almost at will on offense, and I liked how he gets it done in the paint and from beyond the arc. Pendergrass also proved to be pretty crafty with his footwork, which allowed him to slip by or shoot over defenders. Although he is not a finished product just yet, he looks like a player that will be ready to make an immediate impact in college.

The most refined scorer on this list, Pendergrass was among the top bucket-getters in the Elite Prep League as just a junior. The Maryland native is a matchup nightmare with natural shotmaking touch from all over the floor and comfortable ball skills to work to his spots off the bounce. Comfortable in transition or a halfcourt setting, Pendergrass has made strides in his efficiency and shot selection throughout his first year at Hargrave. With the prevalence at the next level of mismatch scorers at the ‘4′, it’s no wonder why Pendergrass has already seen an array of high-major recruitment.

Pendergrass thrives playing on the interior and has a knack for keeping offensive chances alive with his rebounding. He does a good job of scoring within six feet with good touch around the bucket. Pendergrass finds ways to get to the foul line. He uses his length to alter shots. Pendergrass is a threat as rim runner and can finish above the rim. He is one of the best forwards in the country. The key for him is being consistent and realizing it’s a marathon not a sprint.

Shane was one of the more underrated players who I had never watched before at the JL camp. Pendergrass showed that he can hoop with the best of prospects and was a high-level standout, especially on the defensive end. He also has a steady jumper and is disciplined enough not to bite on pump fakes under the basket. On offense, he can use a variety of dribble moves to get to the basket or pull up from anywhere on the court. Pendergrass has offers from Texas A&M, Maryland, Iowa, Old Dominion, and George Washington.
