Ayala, a rising senior, returns to a familiar place as he’ll spend his final high school season at Milton Academy. One of the top perimeter defenders in New England, the 6’4″ guard moves well laterally, reads plays before they develop, and has the strength to guard up a position when needed. He generates steals at a high rate, rebounds in traffic, and is really good when he can get out and make plays in transition with the ball in his hands. He has a good feel for the game in the half-court, is comfortable operating as an initiator out of ball screens, and ultra competitive. Few guards in the region can match his combination of strength and shiftiness. The Division I prospect has offers from Chattanooga and Towson and will be popular with coaches this weekend.

Ayala is a plug n play utility guard who adds great depth in a strong Brewster Academy backcourt. He has nice positional size and uses it to take advantage of smaller opponents. His ability to make plays was on display showing that he could start the break with his passing skills. Ayala is effective at not getting sped up and turning the corner when he is navigating to the bucket. He should be a priority for mid major programs in the MAC, CAA, SOCON, & ASUN.

Ayala comes from Milton Academy where he was a standout sophomore and probably their best player. Now, with Brewster, he has an opportunity to showcase some more of his playmaking skills and defense, two facets of his game that really popped in their win against Vermont Academy. He slides his feet ridiculously well and had some really nice assists on reads at the rim. The rising junior will be on the radar of high major coaches in no time, and it’ll be awesome to see how he develops playing at a higher level of competition.

To me, Reece Ayala Reece Ayala Reece Ayala 6'4" | CG Milton Academy | 2027 State New E looked like the best player on the floor for both teams, and he’s only a sophomore. The 6-foot-4 point guard is the entire offensive engine for Milton Academy and can do it all offensively; he can shoot it from three and the mid-range, and he can get to the hoop with utter ease. He has a great handle and awesome footwork in the paint, and his length and athleticism allow him to finish at the rim against anyone. He also has really solid vision and throws hard, crisp passes. Ayala is probably one of the better sophomores I’ve seen this season and should absolutely be on the radar of D1 college coaches at ANY level.

Ayala, a big lead guard that had a good showing this summer with Expressions Elite, is playing with more confidence than ever before this fall. The lefty floor general from Milton Academy has an advanced feel for the game, knows how to play at different speeds, and shows off impressive floor vision. His size allows him to see over the defense and that, combined with his feel for the game, has allowed him to thrive as a distributor. He’s a crafty passer that does a good job of drawing the defense in and then spraying it to shooters or cutters. He’s proven to be a strong rim finisher, able to finish through contact or with finesse in the paint. Defensively, he’s capable of guarding anywhere on the perimeter and shows good instincts off the ball and in passing lanes. He’s continued to get stronger, shows improved athleticism, and has a solid basketball IQ. He’s a definite scholarship prospect down that road and should form one of the best underclass back-courts in the area this winter with teammate, Ryan McLaughlin Ryan McLaughlin Ryan McLaughlin 6'2" | PG Milton Academy | 2027 State New E .

Ayala is the straw that stirs the drink for Milton Academy. The lefty guard is shifty with the dribble and incredibly strong when using his body on drives, and he has great size for the point guard position. Defensively, Ayala is special in the passing lanes and has really excellent hands; when added with his strength, he’s one of the most versatile defenders at the showcase. Ayala will be a scholarship level player.

Reece Ayala Reece Ayala Reece Ayala 6'4" | CG Milton Academy | 2027 State New E is a do-it-all point guard with great pace on the court. He already has a great understanding of double teams and can find teammates on the perimeter on his drives. Ayala can do this while also looking off and tricking defenders. He has a great ability to stop and start again on his drives, while also accelerating fast to get to the cup for easy baskets. Ayala is also comfortable shooting off the catch in all areas on the three-point line. On the defensive end, he has a high vertical leap and uses that advantage to block shots at the rim in recovery scenarios. Ayala is one to watch going forward and can easily be a player that will make coaches and programs salivate.
