Odugbela, a rising junior out of the St. Andrew’s School in Rhode Island, proved to be one of the top three level scorers at the event. The 6’5″ guard has great length and is quite shifty with the ball in his hands, using both traits to his advantage as a finisher. He’s a plus athlete that also plays with plenty of wiggle and continues to evolve as a scorer inside the paint. On top of that, he’s one of the regions’ top perimeter shooters and is capable of knocking down jumpers both off the catch and as a creator off the bounce. The junior guard has picked up offers from Marquette, Providence, and West Virginia since the showcase ended.

Odugbela was the head of the snake for a BABC squad that took down Middlesex Magic with a well-rounded attack in Sunday afternoon’s 16u championship game. The 6-foot-5 guard has a wonderful handle for his size and some pretty unique feel at the rim. He uses beautiful footwork and craft to slide around the defense, and he has the athleticism and length to finish over the trees in the paint. Odugbela looks like he still has a lot of physical development to undergo, which should put him in position to be a tantalizing prospect in the coming years.

Odugbela exudes potential. The 6-foot-5 wing is extremely long and skinny, but he has guard skills and is extremely comfortable with the ball in his hands as both a scorer and facilitator. He plays at a good pace and uses his body effectively to get to the paint, but he also has a pure outside shot and can make shots off the dribble or the catch. Most intriguing, though, is Odugbela’s passing vision; he sees the floor extremely well and makes very advanced reads for his age and size, including being one of the better lob throwers I’ve seen. Once he puts on some more weight and gets older, he’s going to be scary.

Odugbela had a really nice couple games at the Bridgton Winter Classic this past week. The 6-foot-5 wing is only a sophomore and is playing incredibly high level hoops for St. Andrews, but he looks comfortable with the size and speed on the court. He can score in the paint with both hands and does a good job taking contact and using crafty footwork to throw off the defense’s timing, but he can also handle the ball on the perimeter and operate in the pick and roll. Once Odugbela puts some weight on—which looks like it’s certainly going to happen at some point—he could be a really intriguing scholarship prospect. He’s getting some excellent reps for his development right now, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see it happen soon for him.

Odugbela is a fascinating long term prospect. The 6-foot-5 sophomore looks like he hasn’t even begun to realize his full size and physicality, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him put on some major inches and LBS in the coming years. Right now, though, the wing has great rhythm to his off the dribble game and good vision and feel to go with it. He’s not the freakiest athlete or the best shooter, but both of those things are going to come along quickly if I had to guess. Look for Odugbela to shoot up the rankings as he develops physically and on the court.

Odugbela, a member of the 15U 3SSB squad, is a high level prospect on the wing out of St. Andrew’s School in Rhode Island. A big guard, he’s long, lean, and has some real wiggle with the ball in his hands. He’s not a natural lead guard, but he’s incredibly comfortable making plays with the ball in his hands. He knows how to use ball screens to create scoring opportunities for himself and teammates, has the size needed to see over the defense as a facilitator in the half-court, and makes great decisions with the ball in his hands in transition. As a scorer, he’s really skilled as a finisher around the rim, while also showing the ability to make tough shots in the mid-range. As he continues to grow into his frame, his potential two be a two-way force should become more and more evident.

While BABC’s 17U was gearing up for its 3SSB title run, Odugbela was busy staking his claim as “next up” in the program’s storied lineage while leading the 15s to a runaway championship win. Coming off a winter in which he saw productive rotation minutes as a 14-year-old in the NEPSAC, he made things look easy at times against his age group. There’s a poise and grace to the way he operates off the bounce, as both a scorer and playmaker, that collectively points to upside for the highest levels. A true two-way player, he also applied menacing length and slithery quickness while picking up at the point of attack at the head of BABC’s pressure defense. The future is evidently bright for Odugbela, who should already be on college radars with the potential to be recruited at the high-major level before too long.
