What a weekend it was at The Stage. A massive THANK YOU is in order to our event staff, scouting team, players, coaches, referees, parents, and everyone else that made this weekend such a success. This was absolutely one of the best events we have put on to date. As always, Prep Hoops Indiana was there providing coverage from the opening tip until the final buzzer. Let's empty out the notebook one more time with what we saw at the Pacers Athletic Center on Sunday.

8:00 a.m. Crew

As always, the 8:00 a.m. crew had boots on the ground for the opening tip at the Pacers Athletic Center on Sunday morning. [player_tooltip player_id='2950496' first='Conner' last='Weaver'] (Scecina Memorial H.S. 2029) was the first player to catch our eye out of the gate. The athletic 6'1" guard scored on three of the first four possessions of the game with create intermediate range finishes. His ability to attack closeouts and elevate to finish at the rim really stood out while playing up at the 17u level. He had a good weekend individually scoring the basketball for Multiplier 17u.

In the game that I was primarily watching, [player_tooltip player_id='2140448' first='Tobias' last='Ray'] (Chesterton H.S. 2027) had it cooking off of the dribble and 6'10" [player_tooltip player_id='2140379' first='Jackson' last='Gordon'] (Brownsburg H.S. 2027) continued to show his improvement. Those two played very well for [program_tooltip program_id='2400093' first='Indiana' last='Elite Team Tradition'] 17u. However, [program_tooltip program_id='2471005' first='Legacy' last='Ice Elite'] 17u picked up another victory, 55-52, to cap off their perfect 4-0 weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='2414954' first='Chase' last='Devine'] (Bremen H.S. 2027) led the way with 17 points in that matchup while [player_tooltip player_id='2622069' first='Joban' last='Kalkat'] (Whiteland H.S. 2027) added 14 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2140412' first='Kyle' last='Edwards'] (Whiteland H.S. 2027) was good for [program_tooltip program_id='2471005' first='Legacy' last='Ice Elite'] as well.

[program_tooltip program_id='2317250' first='Indiana' last='Elite 3SSB'] 17u Dominates as Expected

The Stage was able to host a couple of 3SSB teams serving as a good "tune up" prior to the first Adidas Circuit event next weekend. Indiana Elite will head to California, but first they rattled off four convincing victories at the Pacers Athletic Center. On Sunday morning I was able to watch them dominate Team Flyght UA Rise out of Ohio.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140328' first='Brandon' last='Hunter'] (Silver Creek H.S. 2027) got it going from beyond the arc in this matchup. He had a stretch in the second half where he connected on three three-point shots in just a handful of possessions. Meanwhile, the 6'2" point guard was also orchestrating everything as a passer and rebounding the ball at a high level from the perimeter like he always does.

Indiana Elite's other in-state prospect, [player_tooltip player_id='2425772' first='Tyler' last='Renn'] (Terre Haute North H.S. 2027), flashed some of his upside in this game as well. The 6'6" wing scored on up at the rim on a baseline cut, finished on the rim run, and showed off his ability to rebound the basketball and take it coast-to-coast. He is so long and fluid athletically in the open floor. The two-way versatility is certainly intriguing and will be something for college programs to check out throughout the spring and summer.

Another Impressive [program_tooltip program_id='2559412' first='Marlin' last='Academy'] P32 16u Performance

On Saturday afternoon [program_tooltip program_id='2559412' first='Marlin' last='Academy'] P32 16u pulled off the upset of the weekend, and probably of the spring so far, defeating [program_tooltip program_id='2317250' first='Indiana' last='Elite 3SSB'] 16u via a buzzer-beating layup by [player_tooltip player_id='2560369' first='Grayson' last='Alvey'] (Center Grove H.S. 2028). Then, on Sunday, they took Midwest Basketball Club 3SSB 16u down to the wire eventually losing 74-67.

Reagan Cheesman (Roncalli H.S. 2028) in this matchup finishing with 23 points while [player_tooltip player_id='2538005' first='Teagan' last='Leonard'] (North Vermillion H.S. 2028) showed off his perimeter shot-making ability scoring 18 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2560382' first='Johnovan' last='Smith'] (Crawfordsville H.S. 2028) flashed some playmaking ability off of the bounce in this one as well.

This [program_tooltip program_id='2559412' first='Marlin' last='Academy'] P32 16u group showed go into the spring and summer with a ton of confidence after their showing at The Stage.

MAC Elite 15u Defeats [program_tooltip program_id='2076924' first='EG10' last=''] 15u in Overtime

This turned out to be one of the best, most competitive games of the weekend. These two ultra-talented 15u teams, with jam-packed rosters of Indiana Class of 2029 talent, needed a couple of extra minutes to decide the outcome.

[player_tooltip player_id='2978308' first='Isaiah' last='Futch'] (Fishers H.S. 2029) went coast-to-coast in under five seconds at the end of regulation to tie it with a layup and send the game to overtime for [program_tooltip program_id='2076924' first='EG10' last='']. However, they would end up falling 74-71.

[player_tooltip player_id='2719712' first='Keagan' last='Battles'] (Mt. Vernon Fortville H.S. 2029) scored a game-high 26 points to secure the victory for MAC Elite. Meanwhile, Quentin Parker III (Terre Haute North H.S. 2029) had 18 points in the loss for [program_tooltip program_id='2076924' first='EG10' last=''] while Futch added 17 points.

[program_tooltip program_id='2317250' first='Indiana' last='Elite 3SSB'] 16u Dominates [program_tooltip program_id='2699181' first='Indiana' last='Game UA Rise'] 16u

[program_tooltip program_id='2317250' first='Indiana' last='Elite 3SSB'] 16u shot the lights out from three-point range in this one as they cruised to a 92-38 victory over [program_tooltip program_id='2699181' first='Indiana' last='Game UA Rise'] 16u. Five of their six available players scored in double figures while they connected on 11 three-point shots as a team. It was certainly quite the answer after getting upset on Saturday afternoon.

[player_tooltip player_id='2560420' first='Will' last='Davison'] (New Palestine H.S. 2028) led the way in the scoring column with 21 points while [player_tooltip player_id='2457404' first='Caleb' last='Coolman'] (Penn H.S. 2028) added 20 points. Both [player_tooltip player_id='2878216' first='Bradley' last='Basila'] (Chesterton H.S. 2028) and [player_tooltip player_id='2538896' first='Eron' last='McDuffey'] (Ben Davis H.S. 2028) added 19 points for Indiana Elite.

[player_tooltip player_id='2560417' first='Thomas' last='Kostbade'] (Chesterton H.S. 2028) was a bright spot in the loss for [program_tooltip program_id='2075551' first='Indiana' last='Game']. The versatile 6'6" forward stepped out to hit a three-point shot and had a couple of athletic finishes against size around the basket.

Other Leftover Notes

[player_tooltip player_id='2141040' first='Brody' last='Baker'] (Harrison West Lafayette H.S. 2027) shot the ball very well from three-point range once again for [program_tooltip program_id='2076451' first='D1' last='Indiana'] P32 17u. Look for him to be one of the most highly sought after DII/NAIA prospects in the state this spring and summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='2873152' first='Greyson' last='Grubbs'] (New Albany H.S. 2027) got hot in the second half for [program_tooltip program_id='3559625' first='Indiana' last='Elite Team Crossroads'] 17u knocking in three three-point shots and a Dirk-style fadeaway in the mid-post. That perimeter skill level at 6'6" will make him an intriguing prospect to follow.

[player_tooltip player_id='2385390' first='Max' last='Hopkins'] (Fishers H.S. 2029) continues to make a case for himself near the top of the Prep Hoops Indiana Class of 2029 prospect rankings. The 6'8" forward is an elite rebounder, throws excellent outlet passes, and has strength well beyond his years. He was a dominant interior presence throughout the weekend for Indiana Elite 15u 3SSB.
