Expert Analysis
Logan Greenwell | Prep Hoops Scout
This was my first time getting to see the Indiana Junior All-Star live since his freshman season. The talented scorer let the game come to him in the time I saw him on Sunday. Capable of playing on or off the ball, but thrives off the ball playing on the wing and running off screens. Excellent shooter with good range. Repeatable shot with a smooth release and really nice elevation and balance. He’s a physical driver that showed his inside scoring prowess out of the mid post with a mismatch guarding him. Good footwork and decisive moves that allow him to get all the way to the basket where he finished strong. Steady defender that took the challenge of guarding Princeton’s best player in the Raiders win.

It should come as no surprise that Baker was one of the best pure shooters in the gym over the course of the weekend at The Stage. The Indiana Junior All-Star is one of the best catch-and-shoot threats in Indiana’s Class 2027 and continued to put that ability on display while playing in front of several college programs this weekend. Baker, playing with D1 Indiana P32 17u, should attract a lot of attention this spring and summer.

Harrison (West Lafayette) beat Kokomo 59-56 to cut down the Sectional 7 nets. Baker, a sharp-shooting junior guard, poured in 30 points to lead them to the victory. The Raiders will now take on Homestead in the Regional at Logansport High School.

The second half sort of got away from Harrison (West Lafayette) in their 67-26 loss to Westfield, but Baker was a big reason why it was a competitive game for a half. His perimeter shot-making was on display as he scored a team-high 12 points for the Raiders.

Baker’s reputation as one of the best three-point shooters in Indiana’s Class of 2027 precedes him. He had it on display at the Breakaway Holiday Classic. The 6’1″ junior guard hit five three-point shots, including three in the fourth quarter, while trying to bring Harrison (West Lafayette) back. He was very impressive as a cutter and was excellent at setting himself up to come off of screening action. The work he did without the ball is why he was able to get off so many good looks despite commanding so much attention. Baker finished with 22 points in the 55-53 loss to Avon.

out of Harrison, and he was as good as advertised. Smooth guard that’s able to play either guard spot was aggressive while playing with a high IQ and not forcing the issue. Excellent three-point shooter with deep range and picture perfect release. Was able to get all the way downhill where he used his physical frame to absorb contact and finish over length. High IQ defender that moved his feet well on the ball and rebounded out of his area.

Natural scorer that does it from all over the court. Versatile guard that can play both on and off the ball. Off the ball, he’s really good at reading screens and knowing how to get open. Once he has the ball he has a quick first step and tight handle that helps him get in the lane where he can rise up in the midrange over defenders, play off two feet and shoot his floater, or get all the way to the basket where he finishes well with both hands. As a perimeter shooter, he is as elite as they come. He has a smooth release with pop his jump shot. He shoots efficiently off the catch and showed he can also shoot it off the dribble.
