Charlie Hughes Showcase | Logan’s Sunday Standouts Pt. 3

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The June Scholastic period for Indiana High School Basketball is coming to an end, but not before the biggest live period event in the state in the Charlie Hughes Showcase. 210 teams and over 350 games from 10:00 am on Friday to 5:00 pm Sunday. I was back in the gym for a jam packed day at Carmel High School on Sunday. The talented scorer let the game come to him in the time I saw him on Sunday. Capable of playing on or off the ball, but thrives off the ball playing on the wing and running off screens. Excellent shooter with good range. Repeatable shot with a smooth release and really nice elevation and balance. He's a physical driver that showed his inside scoring prowess out of the mid post with a mismatch guarding him. Good footwork and decisive moves that allow him to get all the way to the basket where he finished strong. [player_tooltip player_id='3682158' first='Derick' last='Johnson'] was outstanding from the perimeter to start the game scoring the teams first 9 points off three made 3's, and that did nothing but fuel his confidence for the rest of the game. Confident offensive player that showed his scoring ability from all over the floor. Got off to the hot start from 3 and didn't settle. Always in attack mode but didn't force. Showed good court vision and playmaking ability for others. He's a high motor guard that was able to get his hands on a lot of passes in the press. Guarded multiple positions and rebounded from the guard spot well on the defensive side of the floor. Smaller guard that is an absolute terror on the defensive end of the floor. Lightning quick but never rushed. Talented offensive talented that thrives in transition. Made several plays in Brownsburg's narrow loss to Lawrence Central on Sunday turning defense into offense in a hurry. In the half court, he's a steady guard that does a good job balancing scoring and facilitating. [player_tooltip player_id='2887162' first='Joshua' last='Henderson'] is flat out the real deal. His activity on both ends of the floor was impressive. Carmel got off to a slow start in their win over Franklin Central. Henderson got a couple offensive rebound and putbacks. A nice looking catch and shoot 3, which he knocked multiple from deep. Followed it up with back to back big time defensive plays with a steal and a block in transition. High energy forward that could potentially transition into a wing at the next level. Smooth looking shot off the catch. He's a physical forward that has played with a high motor all spring and during June Ball. Inside-out offensive skillset that makes him a versatile scorer. Excellent around the basket finishing through contact. Forces the issue a bit. Has a drive and dish opportunity, but forces up a wild shot. Decision making and playmaking for others off the dribble can be better, but he's a confident offensive player that controls the boards on both ends.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
