Ray showed off his skill level in a variety of way’s in Chesterton’s matchup against defending Class 4A State Champion Mt. Vernon (Fortville). He shot it in from the perimeter, drove hard and finished with both hands, and played off of two feet at the end of his drives. Currently holding offers from Huntington and Purdue Northwest, Ray will continue to be highly sought after by small college programs this summer.

When Tobias Ray Tobias Ray 6'0" | PG Chesterton | 2027 State IN gets going from the perimeter, he becomes incredibly difficult to stop. Being a shooter is his calling card but in the game I watched he got going by getting to the rim and getting looks for himself as well as his teammates. Talented offensive player that’s capable of playing on or off the ball. Really good off the catch, if he has any space at all you can put three points on the board.

When Ray first came onto the scene he was at his best as a catch-and-shoot threat. Then, as a junior, he really excelled as a true point guard for Chesterton High School. You can start to see him put it all together now as the playmaking is mixing with his perimeter shot-making to create a very intriguing prospect. The 6’0″ guard had a good showing on Sunday when we watched Indiana Elite Team Tradition 17u play.

Got a chance to catch some upperclassman on Saturday and a guy that stood out to me early was Tobias Ray Tobias Ray 6'0" | PG Chesterton | 2027 State IN of Team Tradition. Was really impressed with his ability to dictate pace at time and take his defender off the dribble. He is also a very serious threat from deep and showed off a smooth outside jumper vs Legacy Ice 17U.

We know that this Chesterton guard can really shoot the basketball, but he had his point guard skills on full display for Indiana Game 16u while they played up against UAA competition over the weekend. The 6’0″ guard has the ball skill and quickness to get into the paint and draw help from which point he makes sound decisions and has great vision. Ray had multiple games with high assist numbers while also contributing in the scoring column as needed. Very talented guard with an excellent skill set.

We saw Ray quite a bit this summer between watching him with Chesterton High School at various events or with Indiana Game in the couple Prep Hoops Circuit events they played in. His shooting ability stands out right away and that alone makes him a very intriguing prospect to follow. Ray has shown some primary playmaking ability as well, but might be best still as a knockdown catch-and-shoot threat. As he grows a bit more he could definitely slide his way into the Top 50.
