Expert Analysis
Brandon Ramsey | Prep Hoops Scout
One of the best pure playmakers and on-ball defenders in Indiana’s Class of 2027, McKee led Indiana Elite Team Tradition to the 17u Prep Hoops Indiana State Tournament title. The 6’1″ point guard is impossible to stay in front of off of the bounce. He is so quick, so athletic, and so explosive with the ball in his hands. Conversely, he is very hard to get by when he is defending. McKee consistently comes up with steals and is a very good rebounding guard on both ends of the floor. So much of his game impacts winning. Look for him to be one of the most sought after small college guards in the class.

There aren’t a lot of guards in Indiana’s Class of 2027 that can get to the paint as quickly or consistently as this New Albany High School playmaker. He has some truly explosive quickness off of the bounce which he uses to attract the attention of multiple defenders. From there, he is a quick processor and good decision-maker as a passer. McKee is also one of the best, move disruptive backcourt defenders that you will find. He has had a good spring for Indiana Elite Team Tradition 17u and should go into the summer as a highly sought after small college guard.

stepped up in a major way on Tuesday night scoring 22 points for the Bulldogs as they defeated Cathedral 90-83. McKee is a shifty playmaker with good on-ball defensive instincts as well. We like him as a tough, two-way guard in the Class of 2027.

in two games and he was sensational averaging 13 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3 assists per game. He effected the game on both ends of the floor with his on ball defense as well as his playmaking. He showed his ability to create separation off the dribble and getting to his midrange as well as stretching the defense from the three-point line.

New Albany has a couple of stars that garner a lot of attention, but this 5’11” junior point guard is an incredibly important piece to their puzzle. McKee started for the Bulldogs and made an impact on both ends of the floor throughout the game. His ability to handle the ball and facilitate takes a great deal of pressure off of Washington and Stoudemire. Additionally, the on-ball pressure that he provides defensively really wears down the opposing backcourt. McKee finished with 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals in the Bulldogs’ 75-57 win.

It has been a steady climb throughout the spring and summer for this 5’11” guard out of New Albany High School. He first really burst onto the scene at the Charlie Hughes Showcase in June as a spark off of the bench for the Bulldogs. The defensive impact he made instantly changed the game while also providing ball handling on the offensive end of the floor. Then, at the beginning of July, he was a standout at the Adidas Invitational. McKee wrapped up his strong summer by averaging 12.8 points per game for Indiana Elite – Wetzel 16u at the GRBA National Championship in Fort Wayne.

Just like his twin brother, Reece first stood out to us a couple of weekends ago at the annual Charlie Hughes Showcase. He is a tenacious defender that can cover multiple positions, rebounds the ball well from the perimeter, and has a scoring punch that can come at you in a hurry. That is what really stood out on Saturday as he scored 17 points for Indiana Elite – Wetzel 16u in a dominant victory. Definitely an under-the-radar guard to watch out of New Albany High School in the Class of 2027.

at New Albany but I think the player that impressed me the most out of them is 2027 guard Reece McKee. The 5’11 lead guard is super quick on the ball and got downhill so often with his elite speed. A facilitator and a guy that can score in the lane.

We’ve been aware of the McKee twins down at New Albany High School for awhile now and it was good to have them at our Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp to get a more intimate evaluation. Reece is the right-handed one of the two with a smooth pull-up jump shot that he had working consistently on Sunday. He made a couple of tough pull-up three-point shots and then would slice his way into the paint and finish at the basket. McKee is a talented all-around playmaker with the ball in his hands.
