This is the most geographical diverse district, with three programs from the OKC Metro, along with western Oklahoma based Enid, northern Oklahoma Bartlesville and then three Tulsa metro programs.
District 3 (Alphabetical Order)
Bartlesville
Edmond Memorial
Enid
Owasso
Putnam City
Sand Springs
Union
US Grant
District MVP?
Jalen Montonati Jalen Montonati 6'7" | SF Owasso | 2026 State OK , Sophomore, Owasso
Only a sophomore, but the skilled scoring wing is already making his case as one of the best players in Oklahoma. He turned it on the second half of last year, with loud and clutch scoring performances as he led Owasso to an Area championship over previously undefeated Broken Arrow. Eventually leading the Rams to a class 6A semifinal appearance. The high school success carried over into the spring and summer as he led the way for MoKan’s 15U squad and earned a Gold Medal with Team USA. The target on Montonati’s back will only grow this year, as the consensus top 10 nationally ranked 2026 prospect will attempt to reach the rarified air of past Oklahoma elite talent.
Other Candidates
Erik Madrid Erik Madrid 7'1" | C Union | 2024 State OK , Senior, Union
Deke Thompson Deke Thompson 6'3" | SG Sand Springs | 2025 State OK , Junior, Sand Springs
Brady Hancuff Brady Hancuff 6'6" | SF Edmond Memorial | 2025 State OK , Junior, Edmond Memorial
Breakout Player?
Miles Flemons Miles Flemons 6'8" | PF Union | 2026 State OK , Sophomore, Union
The physical forward would be the offensive centerpiece for many teams, as he has an outstanding frame, footwork and soft hands. Instead he shares the paint with a 7 footer, which has allowed him to develop a good high-low chemistry, that is sure to appeal to college coaches who like “throwback” post players. Flemons played a national 15U schedule this past spring and summer, and even in a couple viewings at the level he looked like a “man amongst boys” against quality competition. Look for that to continue as he’ll often give the Redhawks a huge edge on the glass, on both ends of the court.
Five Second Count
- Bounce Back Bulldogs? A dramatic first round playoff exit marked an end to a down season for Edmond Memorial. Signs from team camps this summer point that the Bulldogs will be back in the mix for a State Tournament birth. Juniors Brady Hancuff Brady Hancuff 6'6" | SF Edmond Memorial | 2025 State OK and Elijah Brown Elijah Brown 6'3" | SF Edmond Memorial | 2025 State OK had great AAU seasons, and the duo have the potential to be two of the most disruptive defenders and exciting prospects in transition. Add in newcomer and football standout Drelen Nero Drelen Nero 6'2" | SG Edmond Santa Fe | 2024 State OK , and the Bulldogs will have the power to battle downlow. Senior guard Ciaran Pedulla Ciaran Pedulla 6'3" | SG Edmond Memorial | 2024 State OK showed flashes of having the clutch gene with Edmond Memorial last year, with some big time shots and powerful drives. The development of a good sophomore group of guards featuring Hudson Franz Hudson Franz 5'10" | PG Edmond Memorial | 2026 State OK , DJ Pedulla DJ Pedulla 6'1" | SG Edmond Memorial | 2026 State OK and Jack Sherriff could be crucial for the Bulldogs to make a run come February and March.
- Road Warriors Plainsmen – Having regularly battled with OKC foes to get a Class 6A test, the western Oklahoma based program will now rack up even more miles with trips to eastern Oklahoma. The inverse could possibly give them a leg up on home court when they host teams that have spent two hours beforehand on what surely will be sleepy winter bus rides. Last year they showed promise with a talented group of 2025 and 2026 prospects, reaching a 11-12 mark under the guidance of new coach Jonathan Reed Jonathan Reed 6'0" | PG Enid | 2025 State OK . Tre Davis Tre Davis 6'7" | PF Enid | 2025 State OK , a bouncy 6 foot 6 junior forward, will give the Plainsmen the size to combat some of the bigger foes in this district.
- Coaching Stability – When breaking down these districts, this is the only grouping in 6A without a new coach at the helm. In fact, District 3 has some of the longest tenured coaching vets in 6A, with longtime coaches Rudy Garcia (Union) and Shane Cowherd (Edmond Memorial). Both coaches have filled the trophy cases at their schools and even met in the 2012 Class 6A State Championship, which Union won. While Erik Savage is deep into his tenure at Sand Springs, and before that he won multiple State Championships at Tulsa Memorial.
- Redhawks, Deepest in District? – It all starts in the paint for the Redhawks, with previously noted promising sophomore Flemons and game changing 7 footer Erik Madrid Erik Madrid 7'1" | C Union | 2024 State OK . Korbin Gunn Korbin Gunn 6'1" | PG Union | 2025 State OK has continued to make strong strides as a rock solid table setter and leader for their guards. While senior Dalen Fuller Dalen Fuller 6'4" | CG Union | 2024 State OK has rare explosiveness, who just needs to refine his control and become a more consistent player. Talent has always been abundant for Union, will this be the year they put it together and return to the State Tournament for the first time since 2018?
- Youthful Pirates as sleepers? – Last season the Pirates ended just under .500 but in the playoffs took eventual Choctaw to the wire in the opening round. It was another disappointing season for a program that has one of the deepest traditions in Oklahoma City. This year has the potential to be the start of a new run with two of the top incoming 2027 prospects in Oklahoma City, athletic and skilled combo guard Mar’Quell Robinson Mar’Quell Robinson 6'1" | CG Putnam City | 2027 State OK and high upside wing Miles Jackson Miles Jackson 6'4" | SF Putnam City | 2027 State OK . One of the upperclassmen guiding the two youngsters will be shifty junior lead guard Domaunique Stephens Jr Domaunique Stephens Jr 6'0" | PG Putnam City | 2025 State OK .
