Floor general who was never flustered by the Midwest City’s trademark pressure defense. Broke the press with strong handles, or even hitting deep outlet passes for quick scores. Played the game at his own pace, and made sure El Reno had an answer for every push by MWC. Knocked down threes when needed, included a 30+ buzzer beater to end the third. Which might as well proved that it was indeed El Reno’s night.
They’re now only a game away from state. And if Reed can continue to match the level of his senior teammates. Then the 5A Gold Ball could be headed west on I-40 to the town of Onion burgers.

For El Reno to climb the mountain top in 5A, it appears Reed will need to be the consistent scoring threat to make it a three headed monster for the Indians. Had a strong scoring burst in the second half when they briefly went down double digit. He’s a well drilled and skilled driver, who leverages his handles and strength to create openings in the mid-range and with floaters. Must be respected from the perimeter as well. Match ups like BA bring out how important his scoring will be to compliment Davis and Roman Nose. And could set the stage for a very strong close to his senior year.

A skilled all around guard, Reed has often settled into the facilitator role for the Indians. But a deep scoring bag is still there and he scored timely buckets throughout. Strong and plays at his own pace on drives, with a floater and other mid-range moves. Then will mix in the occasional crucial three pointer. Seems to have a great feel to know when to score himself, and when to set up his teammates.

Next Level’s successful 17U group has a variety of offensive weapons that can hurt the opposition. This past weekend it looked to be the strong and skilled guard’s turn to take the lead. Reed was super effective on drives and in the mid-range in both contests. He shined thanks to the ability to either muscle through contact at the rim, stop and pop with jumpers and hitting one handed floaters/runners over the out stretched hands of the opposition.

The junior is turning into a physical guard with a strong frame. There were flashes of him using his strength to get downhill in the first half, and he then put it all together for a great third quarter. He has a floater that on Saturday was working out to 10-12 feet, while also being able to take contact on drives. What really got him rolling in the third was making plays on the defensive end and turning them into transition points. Once the momentum of that got rolling, he even connected from distance.
