Davis went out with 21 points and 8 rebounds. The dunks at the rims were expected for the springy power forward. But it was his three of four shooting from three that best showed the continually growth he made throughout his high school career. It wasn’t the ending Davis wanted, but he should be one of the hottest names for colleges. Either JuCos for the now more common “one year of JuCo then D1” path. Or a stable D1 program that is wanting to add depth and has a development plan for him.

Except for an interlude where Davis was on the bench due to foul trouble, he was a man among boys in the post. Multiple powerful slams, including statement dunks throughout the fourth quarter. Along with the bruising interior scoring and flashy transition finishes, his passing was also on strong display. He often drew a crowd on post touches, and he consistently made the right read to his teammates for open threes. Brings a dimension to the game in the interior that no one other in 5A currently has.

The forward has been a monster for the Indians as they racked up 22 wins and he’s put up powerful double-doubles all year. Davis is an explosive and strong finisher around the rim. Continues to make enough strides as a shooter, that he does project to be a stretch four at the next level. Possibly could even mature into more of a perimeter player as well, as he does keep adding skill to his game. And is a mobile athlete but could be best as a small five once he hits a college weight room. Type of prospect that due to how college basketball is trending older, would likely benefit a lot from a year or two of JuCo. Then very well could end up on a D1 roster.

The Chargers are one of the few teams with the size and depth to throw a lot at Davis to slow him down. In the first half, it seemed to work as he was quiet by his high standards. But he had a strong spurt late in the second quarter and into the second half that proved crucial for the win. He got it going around the rim as a scorer, then even stepped out and hit a three. He’s been a dominating influence this year and Saturday was a good test as he attempts to put the Indians on his back for a State Title run.

Davis made it look easy in a blowout victory for the Indians. Great mixture of playing his size with transition and physical post ups. While also looking very agile for his size in his movements on post ups and even some drives. Has clearly jumped a level or two higher and is the top post prospect in Class 5A for an Indians team with real Gold Ball aspirations. Combined with fellow senior Roman Nose for 47 points. Looking forward to tracking Davis and company, especially as the rising big man profiles as a prospect who could do a year at a JuCo and then be at a D1 program.

Strong and with good lift, Davis was a load all weekend long. Often leaving the rims at Solid Rock rattling with powerful dunks. His touch around the rim looked good on post ups, and at this level he’s a quality rim protecter. Now back at El Reno for his senior year, he’s another Oklahoma who has benefited from a more national schedule, which should pay dividends this year for one of the top contenders in Class 5A.

After a couple years at Enid, Davis will be finishing up where he started. The forward is started to fill out physically with broad shoulders, giving him power to match his good bounce. Beyond being a good athlete in the paint, on Tuesday he went to work on the low block. Where his quickness and improved footwork allowed him to go around a bigger defender. His touch is also improving at the basket, especially when he channels the “Big Fundamental” by banking in finishes by using the glass above the goal. Building off a big spring, it looks like Davis has the motor, athleticism, frame, and improving skill to thrive as an “undersized” 4 at the next level.

Davis is an athletic forward who is benefitting from playing with creative guards, who free the Enid 2025 prospect to star is in his role. He’s quick and strong off the floor on two feet as an above the rim finisher and rebounder. Along with working hard in the paint, he runs the floor hard to create transition opportunities for himself. With good athleticism, flashes of being able to cover guards and wings, and a great motor; Davis is sure to endear himself to college coaches while playing with Southern Ties in Wichita this weekend.

Davis left it on the court with battles in the paint on offense and defense. He struggled with finishing around rim in the contest, occasionally hitting a good hook shot or strong finish. But in his third game in three days, the junior definitely let some points on the board. But he kept battling for rebounds and showed good instincts and timing when contesting shots. Davis did a great job of staying vertical and not fouling when contesting, which allows him to play bigger than his 6 foot 6 size. Hopefully in future viewings, the Plainsman is a more efficient scorer, because he does have a strong foundation with his motor and defensive instincts.
