With a name like Hancuff, it’s like he was ordained to be a top defender. And the athletic hybrid forward lives up to his last name. Bouncy enough to help provide rim protection. While also nimble enough to chase guards around the perimeter. He’s joined with

to provide an athletic and disruptive senior duo for the Bulldogs. With an improving jumper, he’s one of the top long term available prospects. As a college level weight room, and more time on his jumper, should turn him into a monster as a collegiate upperclassman.

After an injury derailed the start to Hancuff’s senior season, the athletic wing is making up for lost time. He put up a monstrous double double in a win over rivals Santa Fe. Then was productive in all three games at McGuinness. Looked more confident and had more freedom to shoot from three and in the mid-range. Continues to be a difference maker as a defender. With the versatility to battle around the rim and switch onto the perimeter. Still a favorable long term prospect that is sure to land somewhere at the next level and make an impact.

During the high school season, Hancuff is a defensive specialist who’s motor runs hot for a tough and disciplined Edmond Memorial squad. During AAU season, with more up tempo basketball, his elite athletic gifts are even more apparent. With havoc causing plays in transition along with eye popping dunks and finishing. The tangibles the 405 wing have simply can’t be taught. Those traits and his high motor playing style will find him a college home. While it will be interesting to watch how his game and role expand for his senior season at Edmond Memorial.

The athletically gifted wing-forward prospect often does the dirty work of playing big and tough around the rim for the Bulldogs. So some of his work may go unnoticed but he still flashed with a couple highlight reel plays. There was a huge athletic pin block at the rim, then a couple big time, acrobatic finishes that few in Oklahoma could replicate. While Memorial is still live for a State Championship, keep an eye for the athletic 2025 prospect to shine in the more wide open style of AAU basketball this spring and summer.

Hancuff is a tough prospect to get a handle on, as it requires merging the different roles he has in high school and on the grassroots circuit. A few thing do stay the same in both settings, he’s athletic and high motor prospect, who shines on the defensive end. During grassroots viewing last spring and summer, it looked like he was putting together the building blocks of a perimeter game. As he had flashes of some creative vision as passer, but needed to tighten his handle and continue to work on decision making. This high school season has seen him transition to more of an interior prospect, who’s offensive production is tied to transition opportunities and off the ball movements. Tracking how his perimeter game continues to develop over the next 6 months will likely dictate his collegiate level. But overall it’s easy to see how a rangy athlete with a high motor playing style can find a fit at the next level.

Over the last year, Hancuff has been one of the most intriguing prospects in Oklahoma thanks to the potential of what he could become. Saturday was a great viewing in that regard as it showed why college coaches should like him, why they could love him, and what he needs to improve on.
Let’s start with what remains the hallmarks of the 2025 wing’s game. Athleticism and motor. He’s one of the best athletes in the class. He closed out the camp with a smooth, between the leg “Eastbay” slam. But he doesn’t just hunt for dunks, which he does have a hammer, he was active as a rim protector and on the glass.
Offensively, Hancuff appears to be focused on improving his jumper. Which the shot is starting to look more fluid and his motions off the dribble are looking cleaner. When putting the ball on the floor, his results were a little more mixed. At times he has good vision as a passer, but seemed to get caught up in the chaotic nature of camp basketball with some questionable turnovers. As a driver despite his vertical explosiveness, he didn’t create a ton of space, often relaying on his strength and size in attempt to finish through players.
The production aspect of Hancuff’s game is continuing to improve, and he looks to be a step closer to starting to match his potential.

After a quiet winter, Hancuff has turned the corner this spring. He’s a high motor, big time athlete who makes his impact felt on both ends. To go along with his height, he has a long wingspan which helps him regularly finish with authority at the rim. On the defensive end he’s eager to help with rim protection and attack the glass. The Edmond Memorial Bulldog also shows promise as an off the ball mover in the half-court, good passing instincts and pushing it himself off rebounds.
Among the players on this list, he has his own personal recipe for success most understood with his high motor playing style. It’s just now a question to see how has handling and shooting improve.

As a sophomore, Hancuff flashed upside thanks to his motor and physical traits. But didn’t have a true breakout. Still, as covered in late February, there was enough signs to believe that 2025 wing could make a jump that puts him among the top players in this class. It’s early days for AAU season, but it’s possible Hancuff is starting to achieve his high potential upside sooner rather than later.
The biggest thing that stands out when watching the upside player is his fearlessness. While currently skinny, he never hesitates from trying to dunk on any defender when driving. This also applies to the defensive end as he’s also willing to block shots, even against good leapers. Late in the first half against Southern Assault, he met a fellow bouncy player at the rim in transition defense and won the battle with an eye popping rejection. To go along with his fearlessness he looked great as an off the ball mover and finisher in the Hawk’s offense.
Where Hancuff is still finding his way is as an on the ball slasher and creator. There’s some potential there with some developing spin moves and ball handling to get down hill when given face up opportunities. There’s promise as a passer, as while he need to work on some accuracy and touch, he showed of good vision and unselfishness in his attempts. Hancuff recently picked up an offer from Oklahoma City University and the momentum in his development is firmly rolling in the right direction.

This is probably an island I’m fairly alone on, but Hancuff still profiles as one of the highest upside prospects in the Class of 2025. His combination of size, athleticism and energy set him apart whenever he’s on the court. One of the best examples of this is with how much ground he covers on the defensive end. On Friday night he went for a loose ball near mid-court, seconds later he was in the opposite corner contesting a three pointer. There’s usually one or two moments like this from Hancuff per game. Earlier this year he was the one to close off a drive near the free throw line, forced the pass, then flew out to the three point line and blocked the shot. Betting on players with size, athleticism and a high motor is usually a good bet.
There’s still two more years in his high school career, and there is a lot of refinement that is needed. A little hitch in his jumper is one example. His feel on offensive needs improvement and he looks raw in some team concepts. Frankly at this stage of his career, he shares some similarities to

The last name on the list is just getting his feet wet in varsity basketball with Edmond Memorial. It was obvious the talent Hancuff showed while playing with Team Trae Young Elite’s 15U team this past Spring and Summer. He already has next level height and the movement to be a bigger wing. This currently is most noticeable with his ability to cover smaller guards. There’s also a fearlessness to his game, as during an early season scrimmage he attempted to put a 7 footer on a poster. The physical framework is there, it will come down to how he adds layers of skill and feel for the game to it as he adjusts to varsity competition and continues to work on his effectiveness in the halfcourt.
