Speaking of taking his game to another level, Thompson has been on a tear in February. With some of the most efficient shooting splits in the state, all while winning big games over Edmond North, Broken Arrow and others. He’s another strong example of adding more and more to his game. Retains his pinpoint shooting from three and defensive mindset. But now with a tough shotmaking game in the mid-range and finishing at the rim. Powered Sand Springs through a brief January downturn, by turning it around and helping them to a Regional hosting spot with his red hot February. Now has them in a strong position to make their first State Tournament since 2020.

Thompson drew a crowd throughout the game but remained an efficient scorer by hitting tough shots. Always ready to shot off the ball, has a quick release and is undaunted by close outs. Is very good when putting the ball on the floor for one-two dribbles to hit in mid-range or relocate on the perimeter. Has other flashes of a strong developing iso-game as well. Has continued to grow physically and should hit the ground running at the next level as a 3 and D player that can cover multiple positions. With the upside to be more as an upperclassman.

Thompson has grown from a hard nosed defender and floor spacing threat into one of the more complete guards in Oklahoma. Strong frame, good athlete, still hooks up and defends with pride. Now has variety to his scoring, is very comfortable pulling up from three, complete with a good stepback game to get separation. Gets great elevation and smooth, repeatable release on those jumpers. Has an offer from Summit League’s Omaha. With similar programs, Oral Roberts and Missouri State also interested.

Fresh off a strong junior campaign, Thompson has fit in well on a national schedule for ASAK on Adidas’ 3SSB circuit. He’s a strong shooter from the perimeter, with the mindset and build to be a 3 and D guard/wing prospect at the next level. Thompson has flashes off improving off the dribble game, especially in the mid-range. But his calling card of three point shooting and defensive work should endearing him to college coaches and find him a successful role at the next level.

The 918 standout saw his game reach a new level as a junior, and now will get a chance to test it against national competition with an Adidas program from Texas. He seemed to fit in perfectly with his new team, as a consistent three point threat From pushing it in transition and hitting pull up triples, to being an off the ball floor spacer, Thompson is a quality shooter with traits that translate to the next level. He even rotated over and took a big charge, showing the unselfishness and complete aspects of his game.

is a player that caught my attention with his jaw-dropping plays and shot making over the Summer at a PrepHoops event, where he was one of the best players there. Trying to follow in his dad’s footsteps of playing college basketball, he has had a good group of people to teach him the game right growing up. It shows with how he plays, making high-IQ plays more often than not. This flashed when he fought for an offensive rebound and while double-teamed, he remained patient and made a good pass to his teammate, who made the three. The 2025 6’3 guard also flashed his high shot making ability in this one, as he made three three-pointers and he went 4/4 from the free throw line. He ended with 13 points in the game. His impact expanded beyond this as he grabbed a few rebounds throughout the game, came away with a block, played good perimeter defense to force a turnover, and hustled for loose balls. I lost count of the number of times that he put his body on the floor trying to get rebounds and loose balls. It was a solid game from him against a defense that planned to make him the focal point.

Last season, Thompson was a quality shooter and strong defender as a “3 and D prospect”. There were flashes of an improving off the dribble skillset, that as a junior he has taken to another level. He’s now very comfortable operating in the mid-range, capable of hitting tough contested shots. While remaining a top priority for defenders when spot up along the perimeter. The scoring is there, with translatable aspects that should help him carve out early playing time at the next level.
But he’s more than just a scorer. Even with the expanded offensive role, Thompson is still more than willing to get his nose dirty on the defensive end. In a recent viewing against Putnam City, he created havoc with steals, hustle plays in transition on defense. While also still be willing to do the dirty work with on the ball defense (where his plus wingspan helps him) and even taking charges. The Sandite is the ring leader for a strong junior class for Sand Springs, that come playoff time will try to make noise a year ahead of schedule.

It was a quieter scoring night compared to Thompson’s scoring outburst the night before, but in what could’ve been a heated game against his former school, the junior played composed and scored within the flow of the offense. Where he made his biggest impact was on the defensive end. He was a hawking on the ball defender, who used his plus wingspan and solid athleticism to hound Jenks’ guards. On occasion, he got out in transition after steals, but generally it was well drilled defense that seemed to set the tone for Sand Springs.

Thompson is another junior guard, who looks set to make a leap from a player excelling in his role as a sophomore to a complete performer as a junior. He remains a confident, floor spacer who pairs that shooting with a gritty defensive mentality. But he’s added more of an off the dribble game, which especially looked good in the mid-range. There were a couple times the ball seemed to stay on the ball a little too much, which is an area to keep an eye on as his game continues to evolve. But it was good to see him stay in attack mode and aggressive throughout, especially as he paired his attempts on the ball with the crashing the glass offensively and trying to win 50-50 balls.

Thompson is the current poster child for “3 and D” in Oklahoma’s 2025 class. His plus wingspan allows him to play bigger than his height on the defensive end, especially paired with the locked in defensive mentality he exhibits. On the offensive end, he’s best as a catch and shoot option with a smooth shooting stroke but has signs of expanding his overall package as he steps into a bigger role at his new program. Thompson pairs good traits with his shooting ability to be an appealing prospect who has a variety of paths to a successful college career.
