About Jalen
Expert Analysis

While Owasso may have fell short at state, the senior showed why he is the most coveted player in the state in the 2026 class. The Oklahoma State commit led the Rams to the 6A state semifinals by averaging 26.8 points, 7.8 assists and 3.1 rebounds per contest. Jalen showcases both versatility and elite shot-making as he is able to get to his spots and elevate both in the mid-range and from the perimeter. He is a very efficient offensive player that does not force the action often. Look for Montonati to showcase his high release and good off ball movement in Stillwater next season.

Jalen helped his team advance into the semifinals with 22 points and 12 rebounds. The most efficient scorer in the state, he scored at will in the Rams’ win versus Southmoore. He started off the game with multiple mid-range buckets, getting to his spots and using defenders’ physicality to his advantage. He is one of the most promising scorers in the 6A State Tournament, and his ability to score without dribbling and without taking too many dribbles is impressive. If Montonati can continue his impressive postseason play, he could look to add a second state championship to his resume.

Montonati was on the glass early and even with a double digit lead in the second half, was still seen doing the little things on the defensive end. There was one little stretch where he pick pocketed a sloppy dribble, then another where he got onto the floor for a loose ball first.
While he connected on some on his trademark triples in the first half, he ran a little cold in the second half. That didn’t deter him, as he started to take advantage of Southmoore’s defense over playing. And went to the rack more on his way to a 22 point, 11 rebound double double.
Seeing his combo of doing the little things more on defense and doing more off the dribble on offense are good signs for Owasso’s title hopes this week. And Montonati’s long term success at Oklahoma State.

The Rams cruised to a 90-57 win over Jenks to take the regional title. Montonati has been playing under control and getting to his spots. The win over the Trojans was no different for the senior. His ability to shoot from beyond the arc, while also taking advantage of mismatches in both the mid-post and on the block have continually created seemingly easy offense for his club. His teammates have done a great job of getting him the ball often. Look for more push-ahead transition passes to find him in spaces where he can shoot from deep or attack closeouts. The Wolves will need to utilize some double teams on Jalen, so open shots will be there for his teammates.

has been one of the most promising talents in Oklahoma. He has already won the Gatorade Player of the Year award, twice. And has made State the past three years and is a favorite to win again.
Coming back off injury, Jalen recently erupted for 56 points while knocking down 15 three-pointers in the process. He followed that performance with a 40 point outing against a tough Tulsa East Central team.
Jalen checks all the boxes when looking at Gatorade Player of the Year candidates. The Ram has produced all four years and won at the highest level at a young age. He also plays differently than a lot of players around the state, showcasing a smooth triple-threat game and pro-level shotmaking ability. The way he scores looks like something you see at the next level.
Jalen is a talent to watch as the season wraps up and a strong contender to win this award again.

The state’s top prospect has two visits planned for this fall with in state programs OU and OSU. OSU is of course special to Montonati’s heart, as his father played there and was part of OSU’s 2000 Elite Eight squad. Along with the in state visits, he took an official visit to Kansas State last month.
Montonati has taken the nation’s best shot this spring and summer with Mokan in EYBL play. He closed it out strong in Augusta, including a 29 point performance against Bradley Beal Elite. One thing has been clear since he took Oklahoma by storm as a freshman, he can score the rock. Especially from three. Which is why his final schools are of the high major variety.

The elite scorer is a match up problem on offense. Cut his teeth as a sharpshooter as a freshman, with hints of his all around scoring game. Capable of taking guards and other wings to the block. Helps him out by crashing the glass for putbacks too. Now has a full ISO style game. Does good work off the ball. Tough shot maker, who is already chasing a second State Championship, Oklahoma Gatorade Player of the Year and more accolades. Giving him a chance to have one of the best resumes among recent Oklahoma players, all while adding to his extensive list of collegiate offers.
