Expert Analysis
Devontae Cobb | Prep Hoops Scout
A versatile guard who used his strength to post up smaller guards and his explosiveness to score in transition. When driving with a full head of steam, Wilson used his eyes to deceive defenders, often appearing as if he was going to make a pass before kicking it into high gear and attacking the rack.

One of the state’s best all around athletes, Wilson made a loud statement on Saturday morning. He had bursts of taking over the game on both ends. Impressive close out speed to block and contest shots on the perimeter, along with a nose for other havoc causing plays on defense. Then a full array of offensive scoring off the bounce. Shifty and agile for his frame, combined with his long arms he’s a heck of a finisher off the bounce. Wilson has picked up D1 offers as a WR, but has the game of a true hooper. A big spring and summer on the national EYCL circuit with LEGYNDS, should open doors for him on the basketball side with D1 programs.

One of the best athletes in Oklahoma’s Class of 2026. Has the height, wingspan and athleticism that is coveted by college coaches in bigger guards or wings. Making him ideal for the next level as a switchable defender. Playing for a team loaded with future college players has meant that at times his offensive game has taken a backseat this year. But he’s still had big time games. Including a recent team high 24 point performance n a district clinching romp over rivals Union.
Along with the basketball accolades, Wilson is also a football standout. Often in Oklahoma when players have football and basketball options, football ends up being the pick at the next level. Sometimes it makes sense, as some of the football players don’t look like true “hoopers” on the court. But Wilson is a true hooper. If basketball is his love over football; he’s more than capable of pursuing that route over football opportunities.

After a quiet Friday night, Wilson stepped up in a big way on Saturday. The court was filled with college level athletes and his athleticism arguably shined the brightest. His quick first step led to an early strong take at the rim. And he consistently pressed the rim in the contest. Had one coast to coast drive where he shook one of the best defenders in the state and out raced the rest of the defense to the rim.
More than just a dynamic slashing guard, Wilson brought it on the defensive end. With Owasso’s big in foul trouble, he even turned into a bit of a rim protector. Elevating effortlessly multiple times for blocks at the rim. Was a true difference maker in helping to deliver Owasso the tournament title.

Continues to look the part as one of the top 2026s in Oklahoma. Physically gifted with strength and quickness, that makes him a two way threat. Fell in love with his off the dribble jumper a bit too much in the first half in the more relaxed setting of summer basketball. But still dynamic and a threat on drives. Wilson will carry a bigger load this winter for the Dutch as they look to break through against the expected favorites in 4A, Douglass and Weatherford.

The starting point with Wilson is that the change of direction ability and suddenness that Wilson has at his size is rare among Oklahoma guards in recent years. He looks to have fully grown into his lanky frame, and is one of the most well rounded prospects in Oklahoma now. He scored 17 points, grabbed 7 boards, and handed out 4 assists. While he did have some issues with turnovers, the sheer upside of Wilson indicates that he has High Major in his ranges of outcomes. The last year has been a rocket ship for his abilities and production. If the next year matches that, he’ll have Holland Hall back in the Class 5A State Tournament. Along with loads of offers to his name.

Wilson is a strong mix of athletic upside and skilled scorer and has been a steady riser over the last year. He immediately stands out on the eye test, with a strong frame, long wingspan and juice to his movements. The sophomore doesn’t just show off his big time athletic ability in transition, he has a suddenness to his movement that allows him to pair a nimbleness on his drives with the power to finish strongly.
With his ability to catch fire from three, Wilson profiles as the type of prospect who as an upperclassmen will be one of the most complete scorers in the state. Even now as a sophomore, he could be in that conversation if Holland Hall makes a deep run in Class 5A. It’s really hard to poke a hole in a prospect with as complete game as Wilson has. There’s tremendous floor with his skill level and competitiveness, with the upside to be among the very best thanks to his size and athletic ability.

Wilson had one of the best spring and summer of any prospect in Oklahoma. He’s an impressive athlete with the upside to be a true above-the-rim, highlight player. The sophomore mixes those athletic traits with an outstanding foundation of shooting, ball-handling and improving passing. He’s most comfortable right now as an off-the-ball scorer, but is starting to grow into more of a combo guard after running the show for his AAU program last summer.

The super sophomore started strongly, he corralled a loose ball near his own three point lane and out raced the Charges for an easy layup. He quickly followed that up with psychical drives and smooth jumpers for nine points in the first frame. Wilson cooled off the in the second quarter, and some of the control and poise he played with seemed to at times fade away. As one possession in particular, he pushed it himself and when the play wasn’t there he pressed and eventually missed a contested mid-range shot badly.
When Wilson plays within himself and within the system he looks so smooth. Especially as he’s a good passer, with either hand. His second half wasn’t loud as his first, but he did a better job of not forcing and picking the correct spots to attack. He did attack late in the third, taking a smooth behind the back stepback jumper. Wilson got the shooter’s roll, and was even fouled. He converted the three point play at the line.
Signs this past summer pointed to Wilson being one of the best sophomores in what is looking to be a deep Class of 2026 in Oklahoma. He backed that up tonight with his 14 points tonight. Only a couple weeks removed from a productive football season, it’s coming in flashes. But when he puts together a complete game, it will be loud.

Wilson looked electric in multiple viewings this past June and July. One of the top athletes in the class, he also played with the poise and skill of a player much older. He’s decisive with his off the ball movements, and when attacking with the ball in his hands. While he excels in off the ball scenarios that allow him to be an attacker, his time as the primary option with his AAU program hint that down the road he can fully develop into being a primary scorer and creator. This time next year, Wilson could be viewed as one of the most complete offensive players in Oklahoma. Also when that bounce does fully come in, look out at the rim when Wilson attacks the basket. Currently a key part of what will likely be another deep Dutch football playoff run, look for Wilson to make a strong splash by January as the Dutch strive to make another State Tournament appearance.
