For Class 6A-5A Preseason All State Second Team/Honorable Mention
The first of two Yellowjackets on this list, Ridenour provided the extra scoring punch for last year’s Class 4A State Champions. The unselfish offensive attack of Kingfisher somewhat mutes the individual numbers for but there’s no question the impact his shooting provided. He often put together impressive three point shooting performances for the 28-1 Yellowjackets. This year his scoring output should increase, as he’s now stronger and more efficient as a driver.
This summer against a competitive 15U regional schedule, Scott laid claim to being the best shooters in Oklahoma’s Class of 2025. Now expected to play a big role for the resurgent Trojans, he’ll have his sights on being known as one of the best shooters in the state regardless of grade. To go along with his long range bombing, he’s a savvy off the ball mover and is developing into a crafty finisher at the rim.
An athletic and strong guard, Cool has helped the Dutch to back to back trips to the Big House so far in his high school career. With only a few months left in his high school career, the talented 918 guard should be one of the most exciting players to watch as “senior urgency” sets in and he’ll be frequently attacking the rim with exciting finishes.
A crafty scorer off the bounce, McGuinness is back in the 4A ranks after being a State Tournament team in Class 5A. Bradley scored around 15 a game last year, but look for that number to rise at the Irish will make noise in the loaded Class 4A landscape. Bradley has some of the better handles in 4A, and they’ll be a big factor in why he’ll able to dice up defenses on drives.
One of the most prolific scorers in small school ranks, Adkins-Freeman is an electric floor general for the Ruf-Nex, a potential State Tournament team in Class 3A. He seemingly has non stop energy, from the way he gets after it as a pesky on the ball defender, to his combination of quick drives and bombing from three.
As covered in the First Team article, the defending Class 3A champions are one of the most talented teams in state regardless of class. The heartbeat for the Falcons is the Ohio University bound running back. He’s a wrecking ball on the court as a driver and defender. Even with all the talent on the team, the Falcons will go as their senior leader goes.
The athletic wing from southwestern Oklahoma has been known for racking up steals and blocks on defense while regularly posting viral dunks to social media. Owens’ skill level has started to catch up to his natural gifts, and he’ll be looking to help the Warriors make noise in a deep Class 4A.
The second half of Newcastle’s dynamic one-two backcourt punch. Sucharda in his own right one of the better scorers in the small town ranks. While he can threaten teams from deep, he’s often most exciting when driving Where his combination of size and athleticism allows him to excel.
One of the most complete players in the state, Mecklenburg is often the engine that keeps Kingfisher’s efficient offense running smoothly. He can hit shots from deep or use his strength to get to the rim, but perhaps most importantly is his exceptional passing touch. Mix in fundamentally sound and tenacious defense and he’s a big reason why the Yellowjackets won last year and will likely be headed back to the Big House in March.
The skilled big man from Southern Oklahoma helped Silo to a Class 2A semifinal appearance as only a sophomore. Now after often being tested against the nation’s best on Nike’s E16 circuit with Pro Skills out of Texas, he’ll be looking to take Silo even farther. His combination of size and face up ability makes him an exceptionally tough match up on the offensive end.
