Summer Standouts from the 4A Ranks

Oklahoma's summer basketball season delivered standout performances across multiple circuits, giving a glimpse of who could make major impacts this winter. With the release of the latest OSSAA reclassifications and current transfer information in mind, here are a few 4A players who caught my attention this summer.    [player_tooltip player_id='2140788' first='Ryder' last='Phillips'] is a pure shooter who excels at getting his feet set quickly and knocking down shots from beyond the arc. He is a reliable catch-and-shoot threat who can provide instant offense when given space, making his shooting ability a valuable asset to any lineup.   Phillips also brings value on the defensive end, giving his team a dependable presence on both sides of the floor. His ability to consistently knock down perimeter shots while defending with purpose makes him a reliable piece in any system. Phillips should be a great piece for Catoosa as they look to make another run at the gold ball.     [player_tooltip player_id='2417120' first='Maddox' last='Hamilton'] is a 6'3 guard with an impressive feel for the ball in his hands and the confidence to make plays from all areas of the floor. He is comfortable taking big-time shots both from distance and in the paint, giving him multiple ways to attack opposing defenses.   Hamilton does a nice job getting downhill and weaving through traffic while maintaining control. He understands how to create space for himself, consistently getting to his spots and capitalizing on those opportunities. His ability to connect from distance makes him an especially difficult matchup when he gets into a rhythm. Hamilton is poised to make even more noise for the Mount St. Mary Rockets this season.     [player_tooltip player_id='2388533' first='Jack' last='Laws'] is a 6'1 guard who brings strong leadership tendencies and a confident approach to the game. He put together a great showing at the Division I Prospect Camp at High Point University after continuing to shine at the UCO Team Camp, where he averaged 8 points per game while also creating for teammates and making an impact defensively.   Laws possesses a fundamental jumper that consistently earns him buckets from beyond the arc. He also displays a strong feel for attacking defenders, taking the time to analyze their tendencies before identifying a weakness and exploiting it. His combination of shooting, playmaking, defensive activity, and leadership gives him the tools to make an impact in multiple areas of the game.     [player_tooltip player_id='2872137' first='Silas' last='Smith'] is one of the most intriguing 2028 prospects on the rise, continuing to make a name for himself throughout the summer. Smith caught the attention of the scouting world with a 26-point performance that included 6 made 3-pointers before averaging 20 points per game at a Recruit Look Live Period event in Nashville. He opened the summer on a tear as well, averaging 22 points per game despite missing a quarter of one contest, including a standout 37-point performance.   Smith is the definition of what you want from a shooting guard. Standing at 6'4 with a strong, lengthy frame, he has the physical tools to create his own offense and consistently find ways to get the shot he wants. His scoring production, perimeter shooting, and ability to create buckets make him a difficult matchup. With his continued rise this summer, Smith has established himself as a 2028 prospect worth keeping a close eye on.     [player_tooltip player_id='2548822' first='Kobe' last='White'] delivered one of his best performances when the competition was at its highest, leading Oklahoma Chaos to a 61-45 upset over a loaded PRO16 team. White stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals, showcasing his ability to impact the game in nearly every area.   White is the definition of a Swiss Army knife, doing whatever his team needs to find success. He does the dirty work inside, battling for rebounds and creating extra opportunities, while also extending out to the perimeter to contest and prevent outside shots. With the ball in his hands, White has the vision to find open teammates and the versatility to knock down shots from any range. His well-rounded skill set and willingness to impact the game on both ends make him a valuable piece to any lineup.     Marcus Thomas is a speedy, lightning-quick guard with major potential to become a key factor for Mount St. Mary. His burst and quickness make him difficult to contain, and when he gets going downhill, defenders have little room for error. If you blink, you might miss him.   Thomas is a crafty and efficient scorer who consistently finds ways to make an impact when the ball is in his hands. He keeps the ball low and under control, pairing that with tight handles that allow him to freeze defenders and create separation. His timing as a shooter also stands out, as he does a great job getting his jumper off quickly and over the top of defenders. Thomas' combination of speed, ball control, shot-making, and scoring efficiency gives him the tools to make a significant impact for the Rockets.
