It appeared that foul trouble hampered Phillips’ in the first half but he was the Indians best player in the second half. His vision as a passer made a huge difference with helping the offense flow. Good passing off drives and also swinging it across court with velocity and accuracy. Was impressed with the poise he seemed to play with. Popped up with some scoring via a triple and a giant killer finish over Miami’s big. Not the loudest game via production, but his impact was definitely felt. A very good sign for the developing point guard.

If coaches or basketball fans want to see points and a show during the run to the Big House, check out a Catoosa game. They’ve been flying up and down the floor. And Phillips in his first year at Catoosa, is thriving for the Class 4A top 10 Indians. He’s filling up the stat sheet and also filling it up from deep. Highlights indicate he’s also willing to make the right pass when driving to the rim and covered. Surely a key factor in the success for the 15-4 Indians. While they have key seniors, the future will need to be now for sophomore Phillips as they search for their first State Tournament appearance since 2021.

excelled at The Expo thanks to his willingness to do the little things. He was an extremely hard worker who consistently applied pressure to ball-handlers and made excellent decisions on traps and jumping passing lanes. He also attacked the glass which led to several grab-and-go opportunities.

Ryder is a floor general with a well-rounded game. He can score and defend as equally well as share the ball. Very good at taking defenders off the dribble and making plays coming off dribble hand offs. Quick to get between trapping defenders to avoid turnovers. Shows some tough defense, getting into dribblers pocket and getting some steals. An accurate jump shooter, not known for forcing shots either, a good quality. He is an adept passer with court vision, also good at getting the ball up the court on the break and finding teammates off screens.
