Garry Siehndel | Prep Hoops Scout
Hooks looked very comfortable on the offensive side of the floor this weekend in St. Louis. Hooks competed with SA Texoma and was the primary ball handler for his team. Hooks pushed the pace and found easy baskets in transition, while also showing an ability to hit tough shots in the half court. Hooks is able to take contact around the rim well and keep his eyes on the rim. He finished off multiple 3-point plays thanks to his strength and balance. Defensively, he guarded multiple positions and made a big-time impact. From helping in the post and blocking shots, to hounding ball handlers into turnovers, Hooks was very active. His long arms and aggressive nature on that side of the floor allowed him to create steals and start the break for his club.

In the 5 on 5 viewing, Hooks often settled in as a set up man. Has flair as a passer with no looks in transition and in the half court. Had strong all around floor vision, also making the smart decisions to pitch it ahead to open teammates. But he’s more than just a passer, as he’s also a quality shooter from deep. With a good floater to compliment his scoring on drives. Promising piece of an exciting freshman class at Catoosa.
