The flamethrower from the 405 has continued to see his game go to the next level this spring. Along with his elite next level shooting ability, Scott plays with his hair on fire on defense. And has expanded his overall offensive game.  An offer from Albany started his spring. With a big weekend on tap in Wichita with Southern Ties , the Douglass Trojan looks set to add to his offer list.

Scott remains the premier game changing shooter in the Class of 2025. There’s few players in the state who can rattle off consecutive makes like he does. It’s a cliche, but once one three goes in for Scott, the rim must look huge because more makes are very likely to follow soon after.  The Trojan doesn’t just rest on his accolades as a sniper, he plays with his hair on fire on defense. While also becoming quicker and stronger with the ball in his hands, leading to violent looking moves to bring the same accuracy from three to the mid-range. And more juice when finishing at the rim.

Davon Scott Davon Scott 6'2" | CG Douglass | 2025 State OK ‘s junior year ascension into a more complete scorer continued on Saturday night. When given catch and shoot opportunities, he often buried them but he’s no longer limited to waiting to get hot in the half court or transition opportunities.  Scott was more confident on drives, and during a big Douglass run to close out the second quarter it was him at the forefront. It started with a mid-range stepback, where he exploded with violence to his movements to gain the separation needed to get his shot off.  The junior also plays very fast on the defensive end, with the best example of that coming with a huge chase down block in the fourth quarter.  The junior always plays with his hair on fire, and that allows him to leave a mark on both ends of the court.

It was a complete game for Scott. He nailed his customary catch and shoot threes, while also being comfortable putting it on the floor to get to spots in the mid-range and even pulling from beyond the arc.  In the past he often put together most of his points in big spurts that would change games. There were an instance of threes in quick succession, but he spread out his scoring more evenly on Tuesday. Knowing that he has the ability to score 9-12 points in a few minutes, plus the ability to keep attacking and producing for a full 32 minute could lead to some huge point totals for the junior guard this winter.

Along with his scoring, his motor ran hot all game with one particular moment standing out in the second quarter. He crashed the glass hard on the offensive end. While the defender corralled it, Scott was able to knock it loose and get on the floor to force a jump ball. Quality shot making from all of the court and a big time motor, what’s not to like?

Another pure shooter, Scott combines shot hunting, hitting in bunches and clutch moments into his energetic style. He simply can change games with his shooting ability and was a huge part of the Trojans’ Class 4A title last year.  This year should see the expansion of his offensive game as he gears up to write another chapter for the tradition rich Douglass Trojans’ program.

What impressed me the most was his ability to play multiple positions. One time down the floor he would be bringing the ball up the court then the next down the court he is playing the high post. Douglas did a great job running him off baseline screens which led to wide-open attempts that he knocked down consistently. Even when he wasn’t hitting shots, he was setting up his teammates in the right spots to get easy attempts. He is a great prospect that a bunch of teams at the next level need to elevate their program.

The current poster child for flames shooting out of his finger tips after the first three goes in, Davon Scott Davon Scott 6'2" | CG Douglass | 2025 State OK is a true game changing weapon from beyond the arc. Once one three goes in, there’s good odds that no matter what the defense does a flurry of threes are likely to follow. This trait is not just because of a pure shooting stroke, it’s because of the hunger and awareness of his movements off the ball. He of course thrives running to spots in transition, catching backpedaling defenders off guard and he’s also a smart mover and shot hunter in the halfcourt as well.

The Shooting and energy Scott plays with will get the Douglass Trojan’s foot in the door at the next level. Long term it will be interesting to see how his body develops. Because he is becoming a good athlete, with a little more burst off the bounce and some pop at the rim. But he currently has a thin frame and he will need to add strength to be better prepared to compete at the college level.
