Expert Analysis

Williams is probably one of the more under appreciated seniors in Oklahoma. He’s been a key cog in back to back State Championship teams by hitting tough shots and being an unselfish defender. Would likely have been a leading scorer for other teams, but instead has bought into the winning mindset for the Trojans.
With his combo of strength and quickness, he’s becoming a real handful to prevent from getting to his spots as a scorer, seemingly always taking high percentage looks. His jack of all trade type qualities allows him to switch between off the ball floor stretcher, a dangerous score first guard or being a secondary creator. And he’s explosive enough to shut the gym down when given a clear lane to take off.
The current transfer portal landscape has created “Blue Chip” JuCo recruits, players who after a year or two at the right JuCo, will find themselves on D1 rosters. Kam Parker, Aaron Potter, Jacobi Sebock, Jlynn Counter, Chiante Tramble are the recent poster boys for that process for Oklahomans. Williams very well could be next up in those ranks.

For the last two years, Williams has starred in his role on back to back Class 4A State Championship teams. Last year it was a sniper and defensive tone setter, this year those traits carried over. With improved athleticism and confidence hinting at an expanding scoring game as a junior. He’s starting his grassroots spring very strong as a more complete offensive threat. In a Saturday morning contest where he started slow from three, Williams was quick, strong and efficient as a finisher off the dribble. With his size, he fits perfectly as a tough, disruptive defender, who should be able to cover 1-3 at the next level. And he’s probably one of the most undervalued prospects in Oklahoma.

Williams shares a similar profile to his teammate Scott, as a sharpshooter who is maturely into a complete offensive threat. He’s not as explosive as Scott with his movements, but he’s got a stronger looking frame that is starting to fill out. It was evident on some of his tough finishes around the rim, and the way he plays defense. From putting his body on the line to take charges, to hounding ballhounders the junior plays with a tough and productive edge on the defensive end.

Fresh off a 4A State Championship with Douglass, Williams was a steady catch and shoot option for the Trojans all season long. The two games watched were signs that the 2025 guard is looking to expand his game, with a willingness to drive. The attempted evolution to his game was good, as he was able to score some. But will need to continue to refine his passing and decision making when attacking in the halfcourt and transition. Another plus were signs he knows how to use his long wingspan to be a pest on the defensive end.
