Over the last two days Powell has bounced back from his Wednesday performance with full stat lines. This time it came with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. The senior did his work inside with physical drives, transition scoring and more off the bounce.

Even though foul trouble limited him in the second quarter, Powell bounced back from last night’s rough performance with a 24 point and 11 rebound performance. When given mismatches around the rim, he often scored quickly. And showed off the springs in his legs with a backdoor slam. Turnovers plagued him, especially in the second half. But he kept chopping wood for Metro as their most consistent threat throughout the game.

Metro Christian came up just short in the Class 3A title game last year, where Powell helped lead a fierce second half rally. He’s a gifted scorer, who blends a physical and athletic frame with good feel as a distributor and scorer. Powell’s mixture of his showmanship ability with slams and efficient scoring will likely have the Patriots back in the Class 3A State Tournament in March, with unfinished business on their minds.

At first glance Powell fits the mold of a smaller school “bully guard”, that leans on a strong frame and good athleticism to muscle his way to the rim. Which yes, Powell is blessed with good physical traits, but he has sneaky good feel as a passer and creator. After a strong end to his high school season, a Class 3A runner up appearance for Metro Christian, and a productive spring, Powell draws some favorable similarities to recently graduated Chase Sucharda, who is headed to D2 University of Arkansas-Fort Smith.

Powell put together one of the top performances witnessed on Friday and was unstoppable off the dribble in Metro’s win. He’s quick off the dribble, with a bruiser style at the rim that allows him to take contact or finish with authority when given a clear path. More than just a scorer, Powell is a quality secondary playmaker. He made good reads when the defenses collapsed on him, or when setting up in the high post and hitting teammates on cuts with pinpoint passes. On defense he flashed some tenacity when he ripped an opposing ball handler, leading to an easy transition score. His shooting still seems to come in spurts, but he did look comfortable when stopping in transition and draining an above the break three. The Tulsa area standout has a “bully ball” style that mixes quite well with his outstanding feel for the game.

is a athletic bruiser with range. Powell is a big guard who can finish above the rim and and nearly unguardable when getting downhill do to body control and his strength when finishing inside. Wyatt was the driving force behind an impressive 3a State Championship push by Metro Christian but ended up falling short to a talented Millwood program. Powell brings a rare energy to the court that many players have, that type that can shift momentums of games on the offensive and defensive end of the ball. This summer could potentially be the launch pad Powell needs to help lead Metro to a title next season.

, one of the more dynamic guards in Class 3A this season. Powell is a prospect that we’ve seen in person quite a few times this season and it’s really hard not to be impressed with his growth from this time last year. Powell has always been a really good shooter and he can absolutely fill it up. That’s one of the things that really stood out to us earlier in the season. He can hit shots from all over the floor and he does it at a very efficient clip. But one thing that has helped vault Powell in this recent ranking update is his athleticism and defensive ability. We think that Powell might be one of the more underrated athletes in the state’s 2024 class. That’s one thing that makes Dale superstar

so special. Not only does he have all the other tools for a top prospect but his leaping ability is underrated. That’s what we see when we watch Powell play and we think that he’s primed for a huge spring and summer.

had a great game for Metro Christian against the #15 ranked Cascia Hall. He had multiple rebounds in this game, including a few offensive rebounds. One of the offensive rebounds led to him having a putback. He was able to facilitate the fast break to get an assist off of a defensive rebound. His offensive impact went beyond his rebounding, as he scored in transition multiple times and came away with some other assists. There was another offensive play to where he had a great cut that resulted in him finishing inside for an and-one. On the defensive side, he had a steal and a couple of blocks. One of the blocks was actually him flying out of nowhere to block a three-point attempt. It was a great all-around game for him that saw him dominate in a multitude of ways.

Last week, Metro Christian took over the #1 spot in Class 3A and they backed it up with a dominant performance in the Kiefer tournament to improve to 15-0 on the season. The Patriots were led by their junior guard

once again as he walked away with another MVP award following the three days in Kiefer. Powell and the Patriots won their first game by 80 (not a typo) and they they took down two Class 4A teams. Powell has been one of the breakout stars this season. He definitely is making the argument for being the most dangerous scorer in Class 3A right now. And he has guys around him making the Patriots a serious contender for the gold ball. But this week is going to be huge for the Patriots as they host Regent Prep Tuesday before road games on Thursday and Friday against Holland Hall and Victory Christian respectively.

started off the game with a bang and kept it going. His team was dominating the game from the tip, so that limited the amount of time that he played. Within the first three possessions, he had two steals and two finishes in transition. One of those finishes was a dunk that made the crowd erupt. There was another play that he had in transition to where he hop stepped and finished. That was followed by another dunk in transition. He made an immediate impact with running out in transition and forcing turnovers. That was not all that he did, as he ended the game with four steals and two blocks. That was with him not seeing much action towards the middle of the second quarter for the rest of the game. If I recall correctly, he did not see the court at all in the second half. He also picked up a few assists, with one of them being a perfectly placed alley-oop off the glass for his teammate, who dunked it. It was a great performance on both ends of the court.
