Mason used his physicality and fantastic touch around the rim to first change the game in the second quarter, then to swing it again late third and the fourth into Victory Christian’s favor. It was an impressive step forward, as he battled through some unfavorable whistles, and turned that adversity into motivation and energy. The combination of his broad shoulders and soft touch, were simply too much for Idabel. Mason would finish the night with 25 points on a crazy efficient 10-12 from the field (5-6 from the line). It’s likely that his only two misses were longer fadeaways, meaning that when he turned into a battering ram around the basket, he was automatic . The intensity only ramps up as VCS now has a date with the back to back 3A champs Millwood, Mason will once again be called upon to be a difference maker around the rim.

Victory Christian picked up their second in-season tournament win. This time they continued to establish themsevles as the east side 3A team to beat by taking down a rising Cascia Hall squad. The physical senior set the one for Conquerors with a 28 point and 11 rebound performance. It’s this type of dominating performance that will be key for VCS to earn a trip to OKC in March. Which they’ll get a preview of a potential state tournament foe on Saturday, when they visit the 405 for a match up with Oklahoma Christian School.

There’s a lot of good aspects to Mason’s game that make him a good upside bet for collegiate programs. This season he has continued to show outstanding shooting touch around the rim, old school fadeaways and even hitting three pointers. There’s a handful of times each game that the senior shows next level short area quickness and explosiveness with block a shot or powering through for a dunk. There are very few players in Oklahoma that have similar natural gifts. He’s been productive for the 5-1 Conquerors, so it’s been a good start to his senior year. But not great as there is an area that needs to be addressed before reaching the next level.
Mason needs to improve his conditioning. It was evident in a big game against Holland Hall. That even though Mason can be a monster in transition, he wanted the game slowed down. Any college coach he plays for will very likely want a trimer and more active version of Mason than he currently is. Basketball is now often played faster, while his ability to slow it down in the post and make good reads out of doubles is a great counter punch, it must be paired with the ability to still thrive in fast environments. Which also includes contesting more shots on the defensive end. If he’s playing through an minor injury, some of it is understandable. But a hot-cold motor has long been the question mark surrounding one of the highest potential prospects in Oklahoma’s class of 2024.
A focused and better conditioned Mason could be one of the most unstoppable forces in Oklahoma basketball for the next three months.

Mason had a huge game and two parts of his mindset standout as the reason why. In the halfcourt he was quick with his movements, from spinning scores on the block to fluid jumpers when defenders sagged off. And perhaps most importantly, he pushed it in transition. When the powerful wing forward plays in attack mode off defensive rebounds and turnovers, he’s like a runway train getting the ball down court and either drawing the foul or scoring at the rim. This dominating performance was an encouraging sign for the super talented prospect as he starts his senior year on the right foot.

and company would be too much, as they rallied for the 63-54 win to start their season 3-0. The senior forward earned MVP honors with 21 points, and from viewing some clips on social media, he was a man among boys in the game. His physicality was too much, on both ends of the court. He powered through multiple defenders for strong finishes and forced turnovers on defense.
The tough tests continue for Mason on Monday, as they battle fellow 3A and 918 program, Metro Christian.

Physical, powerful and athletic, Mason has the opportunity to be an unstoppable force for Class 3A contender Victory Christian. His short area quickness and strength makes him a monster on post ups, which always draw a crowd. But he can also step up and hit in the mid-range, making him one of the toughest covers in the state. Mason has flashes of defensive dominance with shot blocking as well, if those flashes become more consistent the Conquerors will have a chance to come out on top in a very competitive Class 3A.

Mason made strides this summer, embracing a role as the primary scorer for the Tulsa Hawks . There is an argument to be made he’s the most naturally gifted prospect among this current group of seniors. A strong frame with impressive explosiveness, the Victory Christian senior should have an unstoppable senior season. He pairs a good back to the basket game, with a turnaround jumper and the ability to attack as a face up scorer. The highs in his game are high enough to be the best in the class, but the floor of his performances must be raised. One way to raise the floor would be to more often to impose his will as a rebounder and defender.

After an up and down start to his high school career, there are signs that Mason is poised to finish strongly. Mason is one of the most physically gifted players in the class. He pairs a powerful frame and wingspan with exceptional short area quickness and explosion for a player his size. When he harnesses those traits, he plays much bigger than his listed height. This is most evident with post ups, thunderous slams and exploding to block shots as a helpside defender. The wing-forward also has his moments in the mid-range and beyond the arc. Mason’s conditioning has started to improve this spring and he’s showing more signs of the high level prospect he “could be”. A recent offer from Portland States hints that the Victory Christian Conqueror could be ready for a huge July.

Mason dominates every time he steps on the floor. If he starts off slow you better believe he’s going to finish strong. Chris can do whatever he wants whenever he wants and there’s not much you can do about it. Mason showed he’s a good shooter from the 3 with his size, and a good rim protector using his impressive shot-blocking ability picking up the offer from portland state. Chris is a high flyer that can guarantee you a highlight whenever he’s on the court.
