Goree poured in 27 points in the loss for Preston. The lead guard is a shifty scorer, with stop on the dime ability. He’s just as likely to pull up in a defender’s face as he is to rifle a pass right by them. He’s seemingly able to teleport through tiny gaps in the defense and find ways to get off his shot in traffic. The combination of quickness, handles, shooting and passing gives him an air unpredictability that can keep the defense guessing. The senior’s high school career came to an end at the Big House, but he does look like he can be a “heart over height” guard at the next level.

Goree can fill it up from deep and off the dribble with the very best in the state. He’s quick and seemingly always in control, from using pumpfakes, change of direction dribble moves and more to find openings to score. Last season he helped his Preston Pirates to a Class 2A semifinal appearance, and has another season ahead of him with big time scoring and likely another trip to OKC in March.

Due to hailing from a small town, Goree is likely one of the more under appreciated guards in Oklahoma. It can’t be understated how he has some of the best handles in the state, he’s quick and explosive in short areas. And when defenses collapsed on him, he did rifle some beautiful pocket passers through tight windows. His deep range from beyond the arc, and the touch he has when finishing around the rim is fantastic.
Goree was a marked by Dale, often facing the blunt of their disciplined ball pressure defense. At times it did lead to some mistakes, but his demeanor was unflappable. He continued to play his game and found his moments of success, while also not forcing it. He will have better individual performances this year, but this was a key viewing to understand the mature mentality he has a competitor. The school that takes a chance on this classic “heart over height” guard will be rewarded.

With a tight handle, Goree was a handful off the dribble all game for Thunder Elite. He has good pick and roll chemistry with the athletic wings on his squad. And in iso situations, his handle and quickness often kept defenders on their heels. Usually a better scorer, Goree’s shots weren’t falling from distance, but his dynamism off the bounce still allowed him to get downhill. Where in the second half, he did a better job of creating for his teammates on drives and not forcing tough looks.

The electric small town lead guard was the driving force for Gore’s run to the Class 2A Semifinals. He’s lightning quick, and has deep range from beyond the arc. With Thunder Elite this spring, he’s put together some impressive three point shooting performances. But also knows when to get his athletic teammates involved and let them shine. With his quickness and deep shooting range, Preston will be a must watch for small town basketball fans as they attempt to make it back to OKC in March.

was one of the stars of the weekend as he showcased his ability to fill up the stat sheet and do it in a variety of ways. When you watch Goree, the first thing that stands out immediately is his range. Goree will pull it from just about anywhere and his efficiency on the offensive end of the floor is pretty high considering the volume of shots. Goree might be one of the more undersized guards in Oklahoma’s 2024 class but don’t let that fool you. Goree is electric with the ball in his hands and he was one of the quicker players off the dribble that we saw this weekend. Goree is a 2024 prospect that has been on our radar for a while now but it was good to really watch him up close throughout the weekend.

The small town point guard got the tournament started with deep shots from beyond the arc and a victory for his Thunder Elite squad. Goree was credited with five made three pointers, for 19 points. More than a sharpshooter, Goree is a good passer who can navigate through traffic and find open teammates.

The shifty floor general for Preston did a good job of running the show and picking his spots. He valued the ball with no turnovers committed, and while he looked to push it, he rarely looked out of control. It was good to see the explosive guard in this environment running the show as a contrast to some of the free flowing viewings from grassroots seasons
Gore did finish with 15 points, including 3-5 from beyond the arc. With two of the threes being huge daggers in the third quarter. Gore’s combination of handle and quickness hinted at the potential for flashy plays to come in future games this week.

. He was at it again on Tuesday night as 2A’s #2 Preston took down Henryetta with ease in an 89-62 victory. Gore absolutely filled up the stat sheet. He would finish with 30 points and also dish out nine assists and also contributed with rebounds and steals. Goree and the Pirates bounced back after losing to Oklahoma Christian Academy in the championship game of the Morrison tournament over the weekend. Everyone in Class 2A is looking up at defending champion Dale right now. But Goree and the Pirates definitely have to be taken seriously in the 2A title race. They pushed Dale to overtime when the two teams played back in November.

One of the more exciting small town players to watch, Gore is now at 2A Preston after a very strong sophomore campaign at Okmulgee. When watching Gore play travel ball in the spring and summer, he backed up the quickness and explosion he flashed on game film. While a strong scoring threat himself, he’s also a crafty creator for others with great vision and touch on his passes.
