Jegede looked really good on Day 2 at the event and looked like one of the top shooters at the event. If he gets his feet set, it’s lights out for him, and just watching it, it just feels like it’s been a while since he got to focus on just that. He’s a floor spacer; he showed himself to be a microwave scorer and was the team’s leading scorer in their matchup against D1 New Mexico. What encouraged me most, though, was everything around the shooting despite him being on fire. Jegede is starting to add the little pieces to his game, like being engaged defensively, switching and communicating on that end of the floor, and rebounding/starting the break, and that is what we have been asking for. I like how he looks on this Collective team. They need his fit.
Jegede could be the missing piece for a Cherokee Trail team that already thrives on spacing the floor and playing above the rim. He put that on full display with a 27 point performance, showing why he’s one of the more intriguing offensive weapons in the class. His ability to knock down shots from beyond the arc is well known, but the biggest difference in his game this weekend was his added strength and willingness to battle inside. He attacked the paint with confidence, absorbed contact and consistently finished at or around the rim. His quick first step and improved physicality make him much harder to defend, giving Cherokee Trail another dynamic scoring option for this upcoming season
I’ve heard that Jegede is arguably the top shooter in the state. He’s a knockdown shooter that can create off the dribble. He has a quick release where he shoots over defenders and has shown us that there’s more to his game. He’s got good size and continuing to grow and with that combination of size and skill he looks to be a prospect with a high ceiling. We’d love to see him in a showcase setting where he can prove to be a lead guard as well as take over in times in an unfamiliar setting. We’re intrigued by him as an athlete, he is ranked as one of the top players in the class and a big showing can prove why he should be looked at more of a riser.
Jegede is a real talent, and watching him play for the first time was a treat. He’s a pure shooter with a smooth release allowing him to draining shots from all over the floor. From deep, he was especially locked in, knocking down multiple threes throughout the tournament like it was nothing. What made him even tougher to guard was how quick he got his shot off. He stayed in motion, constantly coming off screens and making himself available for clean passes and open looks. Jegede just isn’t about the outside game, he wasn’t afraid to take it inside with the big’s either. He drove to the lane strong, finished through contact, and hustled on the boards, grabbing rebounds and putting in work down low. Overall, just a super well rounded and impressive performance
Jegede looks ready to be a key role player for this Smoky Hill group, posting 16 points in their recent matchup with Mountain Vista. More comfortable scoring through contact in the paint, he was particularly productive thanks to his height advantage versus the majority of opponents in this matchup. Nailing four threes, his ability to be a consistent spacer for them will be imperative for their
Jegede worked hard on the margins, contributing through help side contests and staying strong against incoming drives. Already set to be a dependable starting wing for this group, his defensive activity alongside the floor spacing upside will be helpful for Smoky Hill’s playmakers.
Jegede just impacts the game in so many ways, with a nose for the ball and a intuitiveness without the ball. Bringing in good size along the wing, he will step into a starting role in year 2, tasked as a complementary shotmaker. His size allows him to immediately compete on the glass, effectively competing versus opponent box outs. That same length makes him a fairly dependable finisher around the basket, effectively finishing against contests in the paint. Help side defense will be another area of necessity of Jegede, often tasked with contesting or blocking shots once the opponents gets an open lane.
Jegede remains a steady contributor thanks to his high motor on the glass, bringing a nose for the ball. Particularly active without the ball, he did well reading his teammates to fill holes in the halfcourt, further pressuring the opposing defense. Active attacking the rim, Jegede drew quite a few fouls, continuing to round out his offensive toolbox. The guard also showed his upside as a floor spacer, capable of relocating for quick attempts behind the arc. Defensively, he matches up against 1 through 3 particularly well, bringing a wide reach and wiry frame to guard up.
Jegede’s steady two-way effort makes him a high floor prospect, given his high motor and progressing skillset as a secondary creator. Capable of knocking down the open jumper or making plays after attacking the closeout, he looks to be one of the higher impact names attending.
Jegede still brings a high motor as a complementary shooting guard, especially willing to crash the glass whenever possible. A steady three point shooter off the catch, hsi floor spacing combined with all the subtle areas of impact make Jegede a high floor prospect through the next few seasons.
