Haynes was very competitive on both ends at The Expo and used his quick hands and anticipation to get some steals and deflections. The son of Marquette University assistant coach Deandre Haynes Sr., Haynes Jr. looks to make some big contributions for a balanced and deep Pius XI Catholic squad this winter.

DeAndre has some impressive skills already coming into high school, and will have the chance to learn behind/next to one of the state’s best point guards these next two years at Pius XI. Coming in at 5’9 he’s fearless attacking the basket, and just seems to glide around the floor with the ball in his hands. He’s so fluid changing his directions to weave in and out of defenders, and has excellent body control that allows him to hang in the air and finish in a variety of ways inside. DeAndre isn’t just a scorer though, as he excels at drawing extra defenders into the paint, creating a lot of space on the perimeter for him to kick it out to open shooters. Also had an impressive block coming out of no where to send a shot flying back.
