The best player on perhaps the most surprising team in the state during the recently conclude high school campaign, Loose led Port Washington to a 25-2 record and the championship in the newly formed Glacier Trails Conference. A do-everything player, Loose impacts the game with his scoring (17.3 ppg), rebounding (4.9 rpg), passing (2.9 apg) and defense (2.4 spg). A smart player who competes with a strong desire to whatever it takes to win, Loose is headed to UW-Stevens Point to play college basketball.

has been a big reason for Port Washington’s success this season. They may not have some of the big name D1 prospects that other top-ranked teams have, but Cal has been so consistently productive this season in leading his team to an 18-1 record. Against Cedarburg on Monday night he put up a team high 18 points, showcasing a smooth release from three, a tight handle to get past defenders, and a lot of toughness on the defensive end. I really like how he competes on the glass as a guard as well, and is able to instantly start a fast break off of a defensive rebound.

Port Washington might be the surprise team of the state in 2025-26 as the Pirates have won 18 of 19 games and lead the newly formed Glacier Trails Conference. And the biggest reason for the Pirates’ rise to the top has been the play of Loose, a smart and skilled backcourt ace who is averaging 18.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists. Loose also is shooting 41 percent from three-point range and has made 47 triples for the Pirates. Defensively, Loose uses his size, quickness and competitiveness to make it difficult on opposing guards.

Leading his team to a 5-0 record and a decisive win over defending WIAA Division 2 state champion Wauwatosa West in a pool championship game. That’s a mighty impressive list of accomplishments for Loose over a two-day period in Kaukauna. His leadership, versatile scoring ability and overall toughness were evident each time Port Washington took the floor. Loose doesn’t always get the publicity or acclaim of others in the greater Milwaukee area, but there is no denying the results he and his teammates registered this past weekend. Simply put, he’s a very good all-around player who competes with an edge and provides strong leadership to his teammates.
