Bethel University, a NCAA Division III school located in St. Paul, Minnesota, got a steal in Zavatchin, one of the state’s most consistent players who went for 29 points in the victory over Lomira. Zavatchin scored from outside the arc with three triples, but he also used his explosiveness and strengths to score off the dribble and at the rim. Zavatchin is just 55 points shy of 2,000 career points and is a four-year varsity letter winner for the Flying Dutchmen. He is averaging 30.3 ppg thus far this season for 10-2 Oostburg.

Now the all-time leading scorer in the history of one of Wisconsin’s more storied programs, Zavatchin is a steal for NCAA Division III Bethel University. He combines aggressiveness and strength with a very high skill level. Once Zavatchin gets downhill on drives to the basket he is virtually impossible to stop due to his athleticism, strength and nose for the basket. Zavatchin, a home schooled student who can play for Oostburg under WIAA rules because he lives in the district, has helped coach Kevin Bruggink’s squad to a 3-0 record and a top 10 ranking among WIAA Division 3 schools in the WBCA/Prep Hoops Wisconsin poll. Zavatachin is averaging 36.0 points and 6.7 rebounds for the Flying Dutchmen. He had 33 points in a win over St. Mary’s Springs, 45 points in a win over New Holstein and 30 in a win over Kewaskum.

It’s easy to see how Jamison averaged over 20 ppg as a junior at Oostburg. The 6’4 wing/forward has a strong frame, allowing him to bully opposing forwards around the basket. He can catch on the block and back his man down into deep post position to finish, or can battle on the offensive glass for put-back opportunities. Showed he’s more than just a low-post presence though, as he stretched the floor with multiple threes in the opening round win over Minnesota Dynasty.
