It's the fall which is the time of year when a lot of seniors announce their college commitment. Quickly it seems like the Division I talent in Ohio is getting scooped up as only three of our top 21 players remained uncommitted. In this article we'll break down some of the recent college commitments announced by Ohio class of 2025 prospects.

Duquesne adds another Ohio guard

Duquesne ended a four plus decade long NCAA tournament drought with Solon graduate Sincere Carry playing a major role for the Dukes. With first time head coach Dru Joyce II taking command, Duquesne will look to replicate that success with [player_tooltip player_id='1432005' first='Arness' last='Lawson'], one of the most athletic point guards to come through Ohio in recent memory.

Dayton keeps top prospect in-state

The Dayton Flyers haven't recruited many in-state prospects out of high school in the past few years with Mike Sharavjamts being the last signee in 2022. However, the Flyers took Jacob Conner in the transfer portal and now add Saint Ignatius stretch forward [player_tooltip player_id='1432034' first='Damon' last='Friery']. Friery has been in the top 5 of our rankings for 2+ years now and shows tons of long-term upside considering his height, shooting ability, production and age. After making the round of 32 last season, Dayton will look to build on that success with Friery as a part of their future.

Defending state champs Saint Ignatius have a second Division I commit

We couldn't mention [player_tooltip player_id='1432034' first='Damon' last='Friery']'s commitment without mentioning his running mate on the court, [player_tooltip player_id='1491439' first='Quinn' last='Woidke']. The athletic point guard took a huge leap the summer going into his Junior season and after winning a state championship, established himself as one of the top players in northeast Ohio. Woidke will be headed to MAC powerhouse Kent State, who has as many Ohio prospects on their roster as any Division I team in the state. Including walk on's, the Golden Flashes have 12 former OHSAA standouts on their roster for the 2024-25 season!

Bowling Green keeps EYCL Standout close to home

One of the most productive players on the EYCL circuit this spring and summer was [player_tooltip player_id='1432039' first='Makhi' last='Leach'] of the [program_tooltip program_id='2075761' first='Ohio' last='Buckets']. Leach has been a top priority for Bowling Green for a long time now and becomes the first in-state high school commit for Head Coach Todd Simon. The Falcons have taken local transfers in [player_tooltip player_id='1705948' first='Marcus' last='Johnson'] (STVM) Sam Towns (Pickerington Central) and Mohamed Maxamud (Westerville South) Leach will join the Falcons core next season. Whitmer also has [player_tooltip player_id='1432018' first='Antione' last='West Jr'] set to make his college decision in less than two weeks, it is between Purdue and Nebraska.

Third Richmond Heights Spartan goes Division I

[player_tooltip player_id='1432020' first='Demarris' last='Winters Jr'] became the third Richmond Heights Division I commit from the class of 2025 joining teammates [player_tooltip player_id='1432015' first='Dorian' last='Jones'] and DeErick Barber Jr. Winters Jr will head down south to UTRGV and bring his prolific shooting ability with him. The Spartans are looking to become the first team in OHSAA history to win fourth consecutive state championships.

Second Greenberg twin makes college choice

In our last 2025 recruiting update article we mentioned [player_tooltip player_id='1432042' first='Eli' last='Greenberg'] committing to recently elevated to Division I program, Le Moyne. Just a few days after, his twin bother Ethan committed to Air Force. Air Force also secured a commitment from Kam Sanders, a former Cincinnati area standout who moved to Georgia for his senior season.

Major Division II commitment flip

Minford star [player_tooltip player_id='1888322' first='Bennett' last='Kayser'] was committed to West Liberty to play alongside high school and grassroots teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1432013' first='Myles' last='Montgomery'] and grassroots teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1462535' first='Cam' last='Williams'], however he has since flipped his commitment to Nova Southeastern and will join the 2023 national champions and 2024 national runner up next season.

Second Nova Village Division II guard commit

It's notable that out of the six Division II commits in Ohio, they all come from three grassroots teams. Midwest Basketball Club-Gilliland has three commits ([player_tooltip player_id='1462535' first='Cam' last='Williams'], [player_tooltip player_id='1432013' first='Myles' last='Montgomery'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1888322' first='Bennett' last='Kayser']) Midwest Gold has one ([player_tooltip player_id='1408521' first='Aiden' last='Davis']) and Nova Village now has two ([player_tooltip player_id='1469018' first='Jaden' last='Calloway'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1432010' first='Micah' last='Young']) after Young committed to Concord. Concord has done an excellent job in Ohio with guys like Ethan Heller playing major roles in successful seasons for their program. Young will bring toughness, defense and fit in nicely with the up-tempo style of play in the Mountain East.
