A prospect we’ve highlighted a bunch this spring, Williams has continued to elevate his game and despite being surrounded with a bunch of young pieces with Elder this weekend, Williams found a way to be productive on both ends. Showing the ability to knock down contested perimeter shots and set up his teammates by using the gravity he has with the ball in his hands. After already being a known priority among regional Division II programs, Williams got some looks by low major programs as well this weekend.

Another final four team, Midwest-Gilliland had to win three games on Saturday to make it to Sunday in the winners bracket. I only caught their final game of the day but left impressed with Williams on both ends of the court. Turning over the opposition defensively with ball pressure and traps, the easiest way for this Midwest team to score is off a turnover. Williams also gained confidence throughout the day shooting the basketball off the catch. A priority for regional Division II programs, Williams has earned low major looks thanks to his improved offensive game that rounds out his already impressive defensive ability and frame.

Williams is a kid I would want on my team yesterday. He has the right tools and mentality because he is a winner. He proves this by his defensive intensity. He can guard and lockdown any perimeter player on the other team. He has the size to also bang with bigger players. He was all over the floor on defense and causing havoc. He has a nice shot as well to complete his game.

Cam Williams is a smart and skilled guard for Midwest Basketball Club. He did great as a facilitator and had a nice day shooting. He has great size and can play the 1 or 2 at the next level.

The GCL-South is one of the most competitive leagues in the state and Williams was a big time performer all season, leading the conference in scoring. A winner from the point guard position, Williams impacts the game in a variety of ways. Defensively with his length, making plays for others with his passing ability and leadership. An inconsistent shooter from the outside, Williams had seven games with 3+ 3-pointers made showing signs of progress in that department. A huge step from making just 11 3-pointers his entire Sophomore season. I expect scholarship programs to flock to Williams games this spring as he already holds an offer from Concord with more to come soon.

In arguably the most anticipated game in the greater Cincinnati area, Williams was the guy for Elder who made a big impact and did what he could to keep it close with rival Moeller. Williams knocked down a pair of first quarter 3-pointers to give Elder an early edge. I also was impressed with the pace he played with, getting to his spots. Flexible as a driver, Williams used pivots and acrobatic layups to try and avoid shot blockers. Capable of finishing with either hands on drives as well, Williams is tough to stop with a head of steam. I was really impressed with how Williams stepped up under the bright lights on Friday night.

Another Cincinnati area guard, Williams had some impressive moments for one of the top teams in southwest Ohio as a Sophomore. A guy who helped Elder get into their offense, Williams plays with poise beyond his years. An impressive defender, Williams has long arms and the quickness to stay up tight on opposing ball handlers. I expect a significant leap in scoring as a Junior with Elder graduating a majority of their leading scorers. Check him out with Midwest Basketball Club’s Gold 16 U squad.
