Expert Analysis
Bobby Lopez | Prep Hoops Scout
Barger is a total force on the court. His size and length make him a nightmare for opponents, and he’s got this smooth way of getting into the block or stretching out to the wing that really sets him apart. In the state finals, he dropped 24 points and grabbed 26 rebounds in two games, leading his team to a championship. Barger has an arsenal that lets him do it all for someone his size, he’s got great range and isn’t afraid to hit the 3. But what really stands out when you watch him play is his ability to score, especially down low. His hook shot is strong yet smooth—basically unguardable and a killer for any defense

The mobile forward has been a routine cover with a top in-state program in Eaglecrest, bringing a high motor with notable quickness at his height. Still a key screen setter for this group’s various perimeter playmakers, he consistently seeks and sets hard screens to move opponents off the line. Continuing to add strength, he continues to provide production backing down opponents for layups or hook shots with the right hand. Defensively, Barger remains a fairly quick defender whose above average verticality for the position makes him an intimidating interior defender to go up against.

Barger’s mobility and high motor were on full display, throwing down plenty of dunks in transition or from the dump off pass. His post hook shot attempts were on full display, getting to the right hand above opposing forwards routinely.

Barger’s high motor and notable mobility at his height continue to provide valuable defensive impact with Eaglecrest. Continually on the prowl for second chance opportunities, he remains much more mobile than the majority of 6’8+ frontcourt opponents. Consistently up and down the floor about as quick as anyone else, he brings notable mobility and rim protection. Another area of value is the low post hook shot, comfortable contributing those attempts through the immediate contest.

He’s quick on fast breaks and is always readily available for lobs thrown his way. In addition, he’s a strong rebounder who battles through contact with ease. Barger is a strong, mobile forward who remains among the most productive frontcourt prospects in the state. Particularly effective scoring out of the post, the forward has one of the more consistent hook shots available. Possessing a particularly quick vertical leap, Barger will be particularly productive rebounding the ball on either end of the floor. The forward’s defensive upside is noteworthy, mobile yet sturdy if needed to guard inside or out. The junior forward currently holds an offer from MSU Denver.
