Kalimba showed his well-rounded game with 9 points, contributing on offense while also playing solid defense. I’d say he can attack the glass decently well, and it was enough to help win state on Saturday. His versatility allows him to guard multiple positions, and his ability to score in different ways makes him a valuable asset to his team. Kalimba’s contributions on both ends of the court were pivotal to his team’s success.

brings a high level of intensity every time he takes the court. Kalimba is a tenacious finisher who earns plenty of trips to the foul stripe. Lucas not only dominates close to the basket but also establishes himself from beyond the arc as well. Kalimba looks to end his high school career with a state title on an explosive Eaglecrest squad.

Kalimba is an excellent defensive prospect, adept at defending 1 through 3. His wiry frame and discipline at the point of attack makes him a dependable defender to alter opponent shot attempts. Alongside his high motor, the wing has continued to improve his shotmaking efficiency inside the arc, both on mid-range shots or at-rim finishes through contact. His continued growth along the perimeter, particularly in perimeter shooting, will be crucial to rounding out his complementary offensive impact.

Kalimba is continuing to improve his handle while attacking the basket, slowing down when necessary to read the floor for his next move. This is alongside his high motor, actively grabbing rebounds or creating chaos on loose balls.

Lucas had a huge first half for NBN on Sunday morning. The Colorado guard really impressed with his post-up game as a guard. At 6’3 he has good positional size, and often had a height advantage over the guards defending him. Lucas was taking them into the post, backing them down into deep position, and was finding success turning and finishing with either hand. Has the handle to get into his mid-range pull-up as well. Physical tools and length at 6’3 allowed him to defend a number of different spots on the floor.

Effective guarding up when necessary, his wiry frame and willingness to embrace contact make him one of the more impactful names on this NBN group. Along the perimeter, Kalimba holds his own versus opposing playmakers, capable of taking on the opponents’ primary playmaker when necessary.

Kalimba appears to be particularly impactful defensively, boasting strength and wide reach allowing him to guard 1-3. They do an excellent job contesting shot attempts down low or out on the perimeter, likely a matchup nightmare for the vast majority of opposing shotmakers. Kalimba was particularly active swatting away shot attempts around the rim, possessing a patience necessary to not foul. His ability to be a dependable 3 & D weapon for Eaglecrest will be particularly interesting, although there is no doubt they will be one of the state’s best programs.
