Contreras is an electrifying playmaker, comfortable getting deep into the paint to draw in the defense. Adept hitting teammates through tight windows, whether stationary or on the move, there is not a pass Conteras cannot make on regular occasion. He continues to develop that balance with his offensive game, getting more aggressive with spot-up threes or runners in traffic. Defensively, he remains a tenacious point of attack matchup, both quick and physical to deter opposing drivers.

Adept at speeding up the pace to a greater degree than most guards, he brings everything you could ask as a floor general. He is a defensive playmaker as well, quick to deflect passes at the point of attack or from passing lanes. His presence against opposing lead guard Cole Scherer Cole Scherer 6'2" | PG/CG Valor Christian | 2025 State CO will be a fascinating follow, given his lateral quickness and knack for aggressive ball pressure. Smoky Hill’s aggressive ball pressure and depth of tall defenders make them a incredibly difficult team to get ahold of.

His illusive decision making and court awareness is what differentiates him from the rest. On a high flying Smoky Hill roster he ensures all of his teammates get in on the action, throwing pinpoint accurate lobs with ease. It seems as if the game is running in slow motion to him due to his patience and poise each and every possession. Look for “Zo” to dominate the rest of his junior season and continue in his grand finale next year as a senior.

Contreras is a high energy guard that is fast enough to press the full length of the court and makes it difficult on ball handlers. He has quick feet and is good at being able to stay in front of the better ball handlers. He is physical on-ball, being able to poke the ball free and is averaging 3.1 steals per game. He will be a 2-way guard prospect to keep on the radar as the season continues.

Bringing in a high IQ, Contreras remains one of those guards who makes your life a lot easier as a coach. With incredibly quick processing speeds, his alertness on defense is utilized through movement into the paint for charges or intercepting a pass. Quick at the point of attack, he is a pest on the defensive end, certainly playing bigger than one might think at his size.

He was a pest on the defensive end throughout the day being able to pressure the ball handler. He has great vision and was a facilitator for this team finding open teammates. He was able to get to the rim and score on the inside.
