With the move to Districts in Class 6A, the weekly coaches polls have been phased out. Here's a check in on contenders in Class 6A as we head into the Holiday Tournaments and the new year.

10. Choctaw 5-1

After a loss to a talented prep program from Arkansas, the Yellowjackets have steadily ran off 5 straight wins. [player_tooltip player_id='2218106' first='Steven' last='Anderson']'s has thrived as a go to scorer. The addition of size and athleticism from football players should see Choctaw improve in the second semester. They have a big measuring stick this week at the Mustang Holiday Classic.

9. Union 5-1

The Redhawks have handled business with Drake signee [player_tooltip player_id='1655627' first='Miles' last='Flemons'] proving to be on the toughest match ups in Oklahoma. He's a load on the block at 6 foot 9 with a powerful, strong build. More than just a bruiser, he has outstanding footwork, good vision and shooting touch. Flemons and Union will look to shake up District 4 with a January 6th match up against Owasso.

8. Norman 7-2

One of the preseason favorites in 6A, they have already had the tasted of being the hunted. With a district foe taking them down and a loss to one of the top 5A teams. They still are very much in the mix, with early season wins in Texas, and a win over 4A contenders Cascia to close out the first semester. A big key to their surge to end the year is senior [player_tooltip player_id='1503677' first='Caison' last='Robinson']'s taking his game to a new level. The long armed sharpshooting forward prospect has found his stride with threes, rebounds and blocks. He's earned notice from the University of Central Oklahoma, with one of Oklahoma's coaching legends Bob Huffman extending an offer.

7. Piedmont 7-1

The red hot Wildcats hit a speed bump to end the first semester, but still started the year 7-0. They're a small ball team, that is a strong example of the concept of the sum of their parts being greater than the whole. Seniors [player_tooltip player_id='1552325' first='Carter' last='Hainrihar'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1552326' first='Hudson' last='Hite'] anchor their backcourt. While rising junior [player_tooltip player_id='2400923' first='Jacob' last='Campbell'] is strongly built and plays bigger than his 6 foot 2 height, while also improved as a shooter.

6. US Grant 5-0

The Generals announced their presence when they took down Southmoore. What's exciting for the OKC public school program is their core is made up of 2027 and 2028 prospects. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='2400905' first='Marcus' last='Lee'] leads the way as a dynamic and tough slashing guard. "Champ" was a bucket getter as a sophomore at Crescent and his hit the ground running at the Class 6A level. They come back from Winter break with a huge test to continue to prove their status as a potential 6A State Tournament team. They travel south on I35 to play Norman on January 6th.

5. Edmond Santa Fe 6-2

Senior point guard Jarmile "Money" Robinson is the heart of an exciting to watch Wolves. He's shifty and tough off the bounce, while also setting the tone as a defender and creator. His athletic and aggressive teammates seem to feed of his energy and have turned the Wolves into a must watch program. Early losses to district foes PCN and BA have taken some shine off a strong start. But the talent is there for Santa Fe to peak at the right time. Especially with two of the highest upside sophomores in Oklahoma, [player_tooltip player_id='2381835' first='TJ' last='Newton'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2560270' first='Joshua' last='Baba'].

4. Mustang 6-1

The Broncos stampede on offense with the athletes to produce some of the top highlights in the state, and the ability to turn up the tempo on defense. They're proving to be one of the deeper teams in Oklahoma, as their dynamic sophomore duo of [player_tooltip player_id='2464132' first='Scyon' last='Wilborn'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2712639' first='Garrett' last='Smith'] were both recently offered by Northern Illinois. They closed out the pre Christmas slate with a double digit win over a top 10 Class 5A Texas program. They'll be put under the microscope as hosts of their own Holiday Classic. A tournament championship would serve as a spring board for the rest of the season.

3. Broken Arrow 6-1

The Tigers are grinding out victories, including wins over top west side teams Edmond Santa Fe and Mustang. Senior wing [player_tooltip player_id='2224276' first='Corban' last='Dow'] has been the engine. He's a great combo of grit and athleticism as above the rim finishing wing. It makes sense as one of the only returning Tigers with heavy 6A experience, that he would power their early season charge. Keep an eye on the sophomore Sutton twins, who are new to varsity but already making strides for the east side powerhouse.

2. Putnam City North 11-1

PCN are quite the travelers, with trips to Duncanville (TX), Columbia (MO) and Kansas City (MO). They're 5-1 in those games, playing and beating some of the top teams in the region. It's more of the same in Oklahoma, as they've already taken down both their expected top district rivals, Edmond Santa Fe and Broken Arrow. And they won the Joe Lawson in Norman by beating 5A contender Del City. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='1552344' first='Nate' last='Muriithi'] is a grown man around the rim, with tone setting dunks and cleaning the glass. They have exciting guards around him, giving their already really good team a very high ceiling. There's a strong argument they could be the top team in Oklahoma.

1. Owasso Rams: 5-2

A pair of hard fought losses at the prestigious City of Palms are the Rams' first back to back losses since February of 2023. They've won a lot of games since then and the duo of [player_tooltip player_id='1552319' first='Jalen' last='Montonati'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1552362' first='Boden' last='Williams'] have been ever present in those wins. They rebounded with a dominating win to close out their time in Florida and will look to win the prestigious Tournament of Champions for the second straight year. With the Wilson Bros (Julian and Julius) and [player_tooltip player_id='1552386' first='MJ' last='Milton'], the Rams have the peices around Montonati and Williams to win their second Class 6A championship in three years.
