DePaul Prep Headlines Chicago Catholic League Deep with Prospects

We are breaking down the conferences across the state previewing the upcoming season.  Here is our look at the Chicago Catholic League!   Favorite   DePaul Prep   The prohibited favorites are the Rams who have won three consecutive state championships.  They have a senior inside-outside duo that might be the best in Illinois with Toledo commit [player_tooltip player_id='1845360' first='Rashaun' last='Porter'] and Brown future point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1435692' first='Rykan' last='Woo'].  They work tremendously well together off each other.  Porter is a big man that plays with athleticism and physicality around the hoop.  He finishes through defenders and plays above the rim with big dunks.  Woo is a pin point passer who works great in ball screen situations along with making reads on the fly.  Plus shooter from three that also has a sweet soft touch floater.  [player_tooltip player_id='2323334' first='AJ' last='Chambers'] is a combo guard that brings a ton of experience and production to this team.  [player_tooltip player_id='2376273' first='Zion' last='Lee'] is a transfer from SHG that fits in perfectly with his defense and versatility.  [player_tooltip player_id='2425702' first='Magnus' last='Johnson'] brings size and skill up front.  [player_tooltip player_id='2842573' first='Blake' last='Choice'] is a big point guard in the sophomore class that has next for the rams.  Eli Ghattas brings depth up front and [player_tooltip player_id='2964015' first='Kumasi' last='Jones'] is a freshman worth keeping tabs on.   Contenders   St. Laurence   This is a young group with a ton of quality guards in the 2027, 2028, and 2029 classes. [player_tooltip player_id='2125677' first='Reggie' last='Stevens'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2323617' first='Markese' last='Peoples'] have the varsity experience and will be looked at as go to scorers. [player_tooltip player_id='2532014' first='Logan' last='Brown'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2385372' first='Noah' last='Corro'] are a pair of sophomores that have high ceilings with their offensive skilled games. [player_tooltip player_id='2532002' first='Jeremiah' last='Toney'] is an x-factor. Really like the upside of 2029 [player_tooltip player_id='2369925' first='Evan' last='Lemons'].   St. Ignatius   Iggy has a pair of highly ranked prospects with a ton of other known prospects behind them in a variety of classes.  Yale commit power forward [player_tooltip player_id='2323283' first='Chris' last='Bolte'] is one of the biggest stock risers from the summer as a face up four that rebounds in his area and has touch.  Expect 2028 point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2531962' first='Amir' last='Tucker'] to take a big leap this season as the floor general for this squad.  He is a big time player that can impact as a scorer, passer, and defender.  They have quite a few solid senior role players led by [player_tooltip player_id='2734415' first='Napolean' last='Harris'] who put his name on the map as a junior.  [player_tooltip player_id='2832915' first='Grant' last='Poorman'], [player_tooltip player_id='2409690' first='Chase' last='Honore'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1552442' first='Palmer' last='Wong'] are rock solid perimeter players.  In the junior class [player_tooltip player_id='2839874' first='Chris' last='Chittaro'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2125620' first='Duke' last='Ross'] are the two to keep an eye on.  Along with Tucker they have a strong sophomore group with three other perimeter players in DJ Caldwell, [player_tooltip player_id='2194657' first='Josiah' last='Hall'], and [player_tooltip player_id='2433752' first='Walker' last='Ross'].  Three watch list 2029s that might get some tick as the season goes on in [player_tooltip player_id='2413941' first='Fitz' last='McDermott'], [player_tooltip player_id='2441810' first='Teddy' last='Dana'], and [player_tooltip player_id='2920941' first='Luke' last='O'Reilly'].   Sleepers   Mt. Carmel   The Caravan lost a ton from last year as their top three scorers all moved on.  One thing we were impressed with throughout the summer in both high school and grassroots evals was the depth of Mt. Carmel prospects that emerged.  Seniors [player_tooltip player_id='2832912' first='Luke' last='Segroves'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2832909' first='Charlie' last='Wingate'] along with junior [player_tooltip player_id='2403910' first='Logan' last='Wessel'] all have a chance to play at the small college level.  Two others to watch are Dom Scailse and Alex Ford. Football star [player_tooltip player_id='2877491' first='Marshaun' last='Thornton'] is a 2028 to watch.  The star power however comes in perhaps the top two freshman in the state in [player_tooltip player_id='2915584' first='DK' last='Heard'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2767906' first='Ronald' last='Johnson'].   Loyola   [player_tooltip player_id='1552480' first='Trey' last='Williams'] is a PHI favorite with his size, strength, and feel for the game at the point.  He is the leader for the Ramblers.  Skilled players surround him in [player_tooltip player_id='2442160' first='Samuel' last='Golden'], [player_tooltip player_id='2875754' first='Charlie' last='Ellis'], and [player_tooltip player_id='2442190' first='Nicholas' last='Konchan'].   Brother Rice   Another squad that lost a lot, but depth is going to be their friend with the likes of upperclassmen [player_tooltip player_id='2823126' first='Joseph' last='Niego'], [player_tooltip player_id='2832910' first='Zach' last='Grabowski'], Charlie Wizgird, and [player_tooltip player_id='2125603' first='Coy' last='Workman'].  The upside comes with the transfers especially highly ranked post brother duo 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2455406' first='Kevinas' last='Salkauskas'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2632084' first='Daniel' last='Salkauskas'].  [player_tooltip player_id='2440187' first='Adam' last='McBrearty'] will bring shot making with a sweet lefty shot.   De La Salle   Yet a third program that lost a lot to graduation and the transfer portal, but you can't discount the depth here.  They have a potential star in 2028 shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='2532031' first='Roosevelt' last='Thomas'] who got a lot of experience last year.  Seniors to track include [player_tooltip player_id='2323307' first='Lucas' last='Johnson'], [player_tooltip player_id='2323326' first='Jordan' last='Shaw'], and [player_tooltip player_id='2323332' first='Caleb' last='Henry'].  Couple of junior wings that intrigue are [player_tooltip player_id='2429933' first='Jonathan' last='Costello'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2532316' first='Chaden' last='Harvey'].  Devaun Bates and [player_tooltip player_id='2963414' first='Stephen' last='Dixon'] are two exciting sophomore guards.
