A quick team oriented guard who consistently makes winning plays on both ends of the floor. Johnson pushes for pace in transition and converted on multiple fast-break opportunities finding nearly closed gaps to still get through. He showed good vision off of BLOB actions, defensive rebound pitch aheads, and quality swing passes to shooters on the perimeter within half court offense. His quick handle and athleticism allows him to attack through contact and finish against bigger defenders. Defensively Johnson uses quick hands to agitate ball handlers and has the lateral quickness to keep guarding for long spurts of time.

Johnson heads the class as the top prospect in the 2029 class in our first rankings.  Why was he the pick?  First he has legit positional size already as a 6’3” guard who plays on the ball with solid strength and plus athleticism.  Second he impacts the game across the board no one else in this class does.  Need him to score?  He can get downhill as well as anyone.  The jumper is a weapon in the mid-range and flashes from three.  Passer?  Johnson is very adept at setting up his teammates in both the half court and pushing in the open floor.  Perimeter defender?  Plus in this area as he can lock down almost anyone with his lateral quickness and strength.  He also rebounds at a high level for a guard.  The stat sheet stuffing manner he plays is very intriguing long term.

Johnson has made a very strong case for the #1 overall spot in 2029.  Well-built 6’3” combo guard that brings plus positional size along with a ton of tricks in his bag.  Explosive rips off the bounce blowing past defenders.  Burst into the paint for scores.  Strong driver downhill who continues to get better as a shooter both in the mid-range and three.  Quality passer off live dribbles making crisp reads.  Defensively he is a game changer taking opposing lead guards out of the game!
