One of the best unsigned seniors in the state is all the way down in Evansville and his name is [player_tooltip player_id='1297113' first='Shane' last='Sims']. Sims, who is known a true sharpshooter, has always been one of the more consistent players in the in-state 2025 class and has proven to be capable of putting up big number. This year, he is still being a big time producer with his 18.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game for the Warriors. Small schools need to get on him because he could be steal of a get. Watch him this week vs Evansville Central (2/6) and Bloomington South (2/8).

One of the top unsigned bigs in the state is getting ready to play his final month of high school basketball and that player is Brownsburg power forward [player_tooltip player_id='1539507' first='Jesiah' last='Sloss']. Sloss, who is listed at 6-foot-7, is one of the more versatile big men we have in the in-state 2025 class. For the Bulldogs, he is averaging 9.5 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. With the physical and athletic tools he has, Sloss is a special forward that can do a little bit of everything on the floor and has showed that during his time at Brownsburg. The Bulldogs have a big matchup at Crispus Attucks on 2/6.

The in-state 2026 class has had multiple players start to break out into their and one of those players in that group is Charlestown wing [player_tooltip player_id='1922051' first='Anthony' last='Fresh']. The junior wing has exploded to 19.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assist per game for the Pirates this season. With the athletic player that he is, Fresh is really good about carving out scoring opportunities for himself and his skill level is really high as well. Expecting a strong finish in his junior year before really making a name for himself in the summer. Charlestown travels to North Harrison on 2/6.

3 Teams

Greenfield-Central (4A) – Class 4A basketball is loaded per usual with contender after contender all across the state. One of those contenders are obviously the Greenfield-Central Cougars, who are 15-2 on the season. One of the main reason's they are contenders is simply because of UConn signee, five-star guard, and Indiana Mr. Basketball favorite [player_tooltip player_id='1296984' first='Braylon' last='Mullins'], who is averaging an outstanding 34.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game. Other guys like [player_tooltip player_id='1306153' first='Michael' last='Johnson'], [player_tooltip player_id='2485685' first='Boston' last='Willard'], [player_tooltip player_id='2485696' first='Dallas' last='Freeman'], and many others have also played some strong basketball as well. The Cougars will be a favorite to come out of Sectional 9 and will be looking to be a team to make it to Indianapolis come March. This week, they host Delta on 2/6 and Greenwood on 2/8.

Brownstown Central (3A) – There are still only a handful of unbeaten teams left in the state of Indiana and one of them is the defending Class 2A Champions, Brownstown Central. The Braves made the jump to class 3A this season and has not shown really any sign of struggles at the moment winning all 15 of their games thus far. For the Braves, it all starts with the two-headed monster duo of seniors of [player_tooltip player_id='1296999' first='Chace' last='Coomer'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1297005' first='Colby' last='Hall'], both who have had two strong final seasons of high school ball. Most people thought that Brownstown would take a step back this season with the graduation of Jack Benter and the move to Class 3A, but that was not the case at all. This week, the Braves have a trip to Columbus East on 2/6.

Clay City (1A) – The Eels of Clay City may be the best team in all of Class 1A basketball. At 15-1, they have rallied off 13-straight wins which includes beating Indy Metro, Vincennes Lincoln, Tri-West, Bloomfield, and many others. The should be the favorite to win Sectional 61 and make a deep state run. They travel to Shakamak on 2/6.

3 Matchups

Terre Haute North (4A) at Plainfield (4A), February 6th, 7:30 pm

One of the more competitive matchups you will see this week is when the Terre Haute North Patriots travel to Plainfield on Thursday. From a pure talent perspective, we have some of the state's best underclass playing in this one. The main guys to watch in this one will be THN's [player_tooltip player_id='1561104' first='Gavin' last='Woelfle'], Cam Fennell, [player_tooltip player_id='1561105' first='Brady' last='Klopfenstein'], [player_tooltip player_id='2053676' first='Bryce' last='Renn'], and [player_tooltip player_id='2140323' first='Blake' last='Hammond'] facing the trio of [player_tooltip player_id='1561513' first='Noah' last='Smith'], [player_tooltip player_id='2267048' first='Harper' last='Baker-Lands'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1560946' first='Landon' last='Gilliatt']. Both are well-coached team so this is going to be a battle until the final buzzer. For me, I like the Patriots to get a big time road win.

Princeton (3A) at North Central (4A), February 7th, 7:30 pm

This is going to be a game featuring arguably the best team in Class 3A going on the road to face one of the tougher Class 4A we have seen this season. Princeton comes into the game with a very impressive 16-1 record and has been wreaking havoc on pretty much any team they have faced. North Central has been a little up-and-down this season but has always been a player thanks to the senior duo of [player_tooltip player_id='1297108' first='Papi' last='Rivera'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1297098' first='Nijah' last='Jewell']. Those two will have their work cut out for them when they go up against both [player_tooltip player_id='1560964' first='Edwin' last='Holmes'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1297040' first='Jace' last='Jenkins']. As for a winner, I give the slight edge to North Central takign care of home court.

Fishers (4A) at Westfield (4A), February 6th, 7:30 pm

Is this the week that Fishers finally suffers their first loss of the year? This week, Fishers faces arguably their toughest challenger this season yet when they go on the road to face Westfield, who they know all too well when it comes to Sectional 8. The Shamrocks have only lost 2 games on the year and have proven themselves as a serious threat in Class 4A. [player_tooltip player_id='1988138' first='Drew' last='Haffner'], [player_tooltip player_id='2277790' first='Durante' last='Morton'], [player_tooltip player_id='2277794' first='Will' last='Harvey'] and others are going to have to be at their best if they want to have a chance to stop the units of [player_tooltip player_id='2140345' first='Cooper' last='Zachary'], [player_tooltip player_id='2267046' first='Jason' last='Gardner Jr.'], [player_tooltip player_id='1297069' first='Justin' last='Kirby'], and others. It will be a tough road game for the Tigers but in the end, you cannot go against the unbeaten, Class 4A Champs. Give me a Fishers in a close one.
