Continue ReadingThe 2025 class still has a very long way to go but the early returns look like this class is a powerhouse. At this point, 7 members of the class hold at least one D1 offer and there are at least twice that many with the potential to earn D1 offers in the class before they get to graduation down the line. Here’s a look at the top small forwards and wings in the class. This does not include players ranked in the top ten.
Jordan Mabe Jordan Mabe 6'8" | PF South Laurel | 2025 State KY , South Laurel – A versatile player, Mabe plays inside and out in both high school and AAU games but projects to be a wing at the next level. Jordan is versatile a 6’7 and is an excellent shot blocker for his size and position. Once he stops growing, his frame should fill out even more and he should be in the mix as a D1 prospect down the line.
Isaiah Cochran Isaiah Cochran 6'6" | SF Adair County | 2025 State #383 Nation KY , Collins – Cochran has a ton of potential as a big wing and may not be done growing. Isaiah has worked to improve the holes in his game over the last year or so and will need to be a consistent three point shooter to keep defenses honest. At 6’7, Isaiah has the ability to attack off the bounce and finish in traffic. His recruitment has a D1 trajectory for sure.
Hayden Blakeman Hayden Blakeman 6'5" | SF Green County | 2025 State KY , Green County – Hayden was one of the highest scoring players in the 2025 class in Kentucky last season and shows no signs of slowing down as a Sophomore. Blakeman, like Cochran, is a better slasher than he is a shooter and needs to continue improving his perimeter shooting to reach his potential. The 6’4 wing may also not be done growing yet.
Elijah Walton Elijah Walton 6'5" | SF University Heights | 2025 State KY , University Heights – Elijah is a long and athletic slasher who has the physical tools to be a lockdown defender eventually. He’s a bit of a hidden gem in Western Kentucky that has a lot of potential as his game and his body continue developing. If he can bulk up and become a better shooter, he’ll be a scholarship player in college.
Makhi Smith Makhi Smith 6'3" | SF Woodford County | 2025 State KY , Woodford County – “Man Man” already has D1 offers on the football field and that’s likely his future but he’s also a tough basketball player. Smith is capable of playing airtight defense and makes a large impact in games by making winning plays like diving for loose balls and making pivotal steals.
