Continue ReadingWe don’t have 2028 rankings yet and won’t until the fall or winter at the earliest but there are new names popping up all the time who expect to be ranked when the time comes. We started with an initial watchlist of players after the 8th grade state championship this spring. Here are some more names making noise this spring in AAU. This not meant to be a ranking or a list of the best 2028s in Kentucky. These are players who have played their way on to the radar this AAU season.
- Future St. X Tiger Josh Lindsay Josh Lindsay 5'10" | CG St. Xavier | 2028 KY has been making the rounds with his highlights featuring some big dunks for a 5’10 8th grader. He needs to refine his ball handling but he looks like a top 10 2028 when rankings come out.
- CAL’s Man Robinson Man Robinson 6'0" | PG Chirstian Academy of Louisville | 2028 KY is a smooth scorer and defender who grades out as a better athlete than he gets credit for. Don’t be surprised if Robinson plays the most of any freshman in the Derby City next season.
- Staying in Louisville, Jordan Jackson Jordan Jackson 6'6" | C St. Xavier | 2028 KY will join Lindsay at St. X next season. Jordan is long and very athletic. I’m still waiting to see more before I can figure out if he’s an undersized 5 man or if he has the skill to play at the 4 spot.
- Madisonville’s Ja’Cobi Nichols Ja’Cobi Nichols 6'4" | SF Madisonville-North Hopkins | 2028 KY has shown he has all the tools to be an impact player for the Maroons next season. He caught my eye at 8th grade state and is currently playing up on 15u for the AAU season.
- Scott County has a ton of young talent in the pipeline and Grant Griesser Grant Griesser 6'3" | PF Scott County | 2028 KY has the potential to be their anchor in the post. A coach’s son, Griesser has solid fundamentals and plays hard.
- Everett Stuart Everett Stuart 6'6" | C Lexington Catholic | 2028 KY could have the most long term potential of all of them. At 6’6 already, Stuart shoots the cover off the ball. It will be interesting to see how much more he grows but Stuart has the skill to be an impact player. He needs to start adding some weight to his wiry frame.
- Great Crossing’s Colt Delimpo Colt Delimpo 5'7" | SG Scott County Middle | 2028 KY may be the best shooter in the class at this point. He’s small but tough and has “in the gym” range when he’s got his feet set. He could see the floor a little this season after playing JV as an 8th grader.
- Wayne County has seen a lot of turmoil this offseason but if everyone stays, they could win the 12th region. 2028 Cayleb Rice Cayleb Rice 5'10" | PG Wayne County | 2028 KY should make a push for a lot of playing time as a freshman.
