Kade was hindered by a knee injury that required surgery and still isn’t 100% healthy. Once he can rest and rehab and get back to his old self, Unseld will be a contributor for WKU in his freshman season.

The reigning state champ is currently on the injured list but should be back soon and ready to help the Dragons defend their state title. Kade is a big shooter whose range extends way past the three point line. A coaches’ son, Unseld has a high basketball IQ and you can see his skill level on the floor where he can really shine as a passer.

gets better season after season and should have a huge senior year. He’s the lone returning starter for the Dragons. Last season Kade put up 16.1 points a game, shot 55.1% from the field, 45.4% from three, knocking down 79 total, and grabbed 7.4 rebounds a game…as a junior. His game sure is smooth. The 6’6 wing will be keeping his talents home and has committed to play at WKU.

Unseld committed to Western Kentucky yesterday and should maintain his status as hometown hero for the Tops. Coming off a state championship last season and a runner up finish in 2022, there’s not a ton left to do for Kade except make another run to Rupp and play one last season being coached by his dad.

One of the top prospects at the camp, Unseld once again showed why he’s regarded as one of the top prospects in Kentucky. An elite shooter from the perimeter, Unseld hit some crazy shots from 3-point range on Saturday. A high IQ player who impacts winning, the feel for the game and IQ really stands out at a camp setting where many players are focused on getting their own buckets. After an impressive week at peach jam with Mokan Elite in July, expect more low to mid major programs to come calling about Unseld, UIC, Ball State, Duquesne and Arkansas State have all offered Unseld since July.

Keeping with the trend of big time shooters in the 2024 class, Unseld played with MOKAN at Peach Jam and didn’t attempt a two point shot the last time I saw stats. More importantly, Kade made 50% of his three pointers while his team made the run to the Final 4 of the Peach Jam.

The lone Kentucky prospect at the Peach Jam in the 2024 class, Unseld is playing for a Mokan 17 U squad that is currently 3-0 in pool play. Unseld has shot 7/14 from 3-point range in the three games and hasn’t attempted a two-point field goal yet according to EYBL stats on the Nike website. With three assists and no turnovers, Unseld has taken care of the basketball and played his role offensively. I caught one game of Unseld against Brad Beal Elite and he competed defensively, was moving his feet on the perimeter and knew how to impact winning off the bench without forcing things. Unseld is a guy who impacts winning in a variety of ways and his intangibles will take him further than his natural talent, but Unseld certainly doesn’t lack in talent either.

Kade has quietly been the hottest recruit in Kentucky in the last few weeks as he’s earned offers from Akron, IUPUI, Robert Morris, Southern Indiana, Kennesaw State and Miami Ohio in the last 5 weeks. Now with double digit D1 offers, the question becomes if Unseld can reach the level of MM+ or even HM recruiting as a big wing shooter. Expect him to get plenty of coaches in the seats with MOKAN next week.

The defending state champs look strong again as Unseld and company have reloaded for another deep run. The best passing and ball movement team I saw all day, the ball doesn’t stick in any Warren Central players hands. Unseld was in the middle of the zone trapping defense they saw and routinely made the right read, using patience and no look passes to keep the defense guessing. A dangerous shooter from 25+ feet, Unseld made some DEEP 3-pointers in the game I caught. Overall, I thought Unseld was just really active and made a huge impact on winning. A mid major target with a handful of offers right now, Unseld is one of the top players in Kentucky’s 2024 class.
