I could’ve picked a handful of players as my second standout from Great Crossing and I landed on Richardson who is a key utility wing for their team. Maybe the best passer on the roster, Richardson does an excellent job of finding Moreno for lobs and post entry passes. Also able to knock down open shots from 3-point range, Richardson hit a couple 3-pointers against the zone defense Montgomery County was playing. I’m a big fan of what Richardson brings to the table as he’ll be a key piece for Great Crossing’s state title push.

An unsung hero for Great Crossing, Richardson effects the game in every facet. He is an efficient scorer with 3-point range that can also utilize his passing ability to attack the opposition. His length and athleticism allow him to gather rebounds and provide tough defense. Whatever the team needs, he’ll do it. He figures to play a major role for the team looking to continue their success next season.

On a team loaded with talent including a pair of Juniors with Division I offers, I’ve always been impressed with what Richardson brings to the table. An efficient player, his 4/6 shooting from the floor won’t stand out on the box score but Richardson made timely shots and was smart about the looks he attempted. Also, Richardson makes good decisions with the ball in his hands, three assists to no turnovers. A guy who throws pump fakes against the zone and gets the ball inside to the 7 footer, basketball doesn’t have to be hard and Richardson does the little things exceptionally.

A utility player for Great Crossing, Richardson threw some great passes for alley-oop slam dunks and set the table for his team. A wing with solid size and a fast release, Richardson hit a couple huge shots from the perimeter. His leadership on the floor also stands out on a team that has a core of Juniors leading the charge. As Great Crossing was starting to pull away late, a cut by Richardson got him open for an easy look at the rim off a BLOB. Really liked what Richardson brought to the court in addition to his shooting ability. Finding ways to impact the game besides just spacing the floor.

Richardson comes into games a bit under the radar for Great Crossing as he plays alongside Moreno and Dawson however he has big time scoring ability if he gets hot. In my opinion, he is one of the best shooters in the state and will continue to get open looks. With him growing this offseason and getting stronger, I can see him earning All-Region honors this season and playing a huge part in Great Crossing winning region.

Likely the best pure shooter in this group, Richardson’s numbers actually took a bit of a hit this season but with his size and lightning quick release, Gage is a big time shooter that has the potential to heat up in a hurry. His continued development can play a large role in determining how far Great Crossing can go in the next two years.

People have cooled on Great Crossing since they dropped a couple of late season games but they are still more than capable of winning the 11th region. To do so, they need Gage to be the lights out shooter he has been in the past. Richardson has still shot 37% from three but has the potential to shoot near 50% when he’s hot. If Gage can do that, Great Crossing will be at Rupp Arena in March.

Call it a recency bias but I watched Gage scorch the nets for Great Crossing last night and he’s hitting 42% from deep and most of his makes aren’t even touching the rim. Richardson has a lightning quick release and has the height to get his shot off against a lot of defenders. Great Crossing gets a lot of coverage because of Moreno and Dawson but don’t sleep on Richardson as a future scholarship level player.
